Can we take Imodium?

I'm having a (huh hum) digestion issue today. And I'm getting conflicting reports from friends and internet sites. I know I should just call my doc, but I feel like I call everyday with stupid questions.

So, I turn to you lovely ladies . . .

can we take any sort of diarrhea stopper like Imodium?

Re: Can we take Imodium?

I had major IBS issues for 6 weeks .. Doctor said it was OK to take. I had to take it, I had no choice.

My dr said it was fine (I asked before I went on vacation a week ago- I always have stomach issues on vacation).

Re: Can we take Imodium?

Actually, I was told Kaopectate was ok, but not Immodium. I had to look at the bottle.

I just heard recently though that they changed the Kaopectate formula and it is like Immodium now.

Pepto Bismol is not allowed from what I understand ..

I took it a few days ago and it did nothing for me... it is the only thing you can take Pepto and Kepotade(sp) contain asprin

Just be careful.. and call your Dr to make sure

and eat BRAT foods( Bananas, RICE, Applesuace, Toast)

Re: Can we take Imodium?

You shouldn't really take Immodium or other anti-diarrhea medications regardless of pregnancy or not unless you've had diarrhea for more than a day or two or you have to leave the house and have no access to a bathroom. Diarrhea is the body's way of getting rid of something that doesn't agree with you and it is usually best to stay hydrated and let nature take it's course. Chat Icon
