Can we start a thread listing all foods that you shouldn't eat while pregnant?
Anything that comes to mind. Every article I read is different. One article said Feta cheese is fine, but stay away from Blue Cheese and another said stay away from Feta but did not list Blue Cheese.

So far, my doctor told me to stay away from:
-lunch meats
-unpasteurized cheeses (feta, blue, gorgonzola, etc)
-Mako fish (tuna, swordfish)
-Limit fish to 2x a week
-peanuts

Feta, blue cheese, fresh mozzarella cheese are no no's.
No caffeine, alcohol, smoking.
Hot Dogs are not really too good for you either. Tuna you should not eat too much from. Any seafood that is high in mercury stay away from.

the only thing I was told to avoid was shellfish, soft cheeses, excessive caffeine
My doctor said it was fine to have tuna 1-2x per week

Every doctor may tell you something different.... Mine only told me to stay away from alcohol, saccharine, fish w/high mercury and unpastuerized cheeses. She said to limit the intake of aspartame, tuna, caffiene. Never told me no cold cuts or hot dogs. She told me to use my common sense.

Every doctor will tell you different things and I listened only to what my doctor told me (since it would drive me crazy to follow everyone's advice). He told me no tuna, aspartine (sp?), 4 types of fishes i never had (shark was one), suchi, smoking or alcohol.
I ate cold cuts almost every day of my pregnancy. I also ate some feta cheese as well during my pregnancy. I limited my fish intake to no more then one serving a week. I also would have a diet coke a day (sometimes two).
After 20 weeks my doctor said an occassional glass of wine was okay too.
Go with what your doctor says.

The only things I completely avoided were raw fish, tuna, smoking and feta cheese(only because I don't even like it that much.) I pretty much ate anything else, just in moderation.

Exactly what mine said. The only things I've actually avoided have been smokers, raw fish and peanuts because I have a mild allergy. Everything else in moderation and using common sense.
