can we go through airport x-ray machines??

i told my dr im going on vacation in a couple weeks and he said to go and have fun and not to drink (lol) but he didnt say anything about the x-ray machines. but my mom just told me i cant go through them... and that i shouldnt even stand near microwaves lol.

anyone know?

Yes, you can go through them. The amount of radiation you get from a scanner is negligible. In fact, you probably get more on the actual plane itself.

My doc advised me to tell them I was pregnant and opt for a pat down instead of going through the new x-ray scanners. A lot of airports don't even use them yet, so I only went through metal detectors which he said was fine.

Yes you can but if you don't feel comfortable with that you can let them know and opt for the " pat down" instead.

My Ob was fine it it. She said she would rather I go through the xray machine then get a pat down.

I travelled 1x while pregnant with DS and 2x with this pregnacy with no issues.

ETA: we went through the basic scanners, not the new whole body scanner things.

my ob said that they were might be fine but I should opt for a pat-down if I had time. it is true that you generally get more radiation on the plane than through those machines but bc I went through them 2-3 times a week for my job she said that it was worth avoiding them if I could. . so I never even went through the regular ones

I always just left a few more minutes for the pat down and everytime but once every one there was really gracious and told me I was being silly. . everyone else was great and I had more than one woman working who said there was no way she would go through it either!
