Can teething cause coughing...
Ok so DS had a fever the other night and that has seemed to gone down a bit. I've been giving him tylenol for that. But this morning he's been non stop caughing. He so cranky and clingy and his sleeping is horrible. But that is nothing new. I haven't called the doctor because I think it's all teething related. Should I call though? If he doesn't get better by tomorrow then I will take him. My MIL is coming over tomorrow night because this weekend we are planning on taking her out to dinner for her 65th birthday. She's been looking forward to seeing DS because she hasn't seen him since January. I feel bad that she will be seeing a cranky, sick and sleep deprived child. Not that she will care as long as she sees him but I feel bad because at this rate I'm not sure if DS and I will be going to dinner. DH will have to go with his mom and then maybe we'll do a cake for her when they come home.

I think it can cause teething if the cough is caused by excessive saliva due to teething. KWIM? If it sounds more like a cough coming from his chest, then its probably not from teething, and I'd call ped.

I can't really tell if it's coming from his chest. How would I know? Right now i'm assuming it's because of teething because his hands are always in his mouth so that I'm guessing is causing the saliva?

If it sounds more mucousy or loose or hoarse. If it sounds like a cough when you get a tickle in your throat, I'd say it's teething. I'm no expert, but this had been my experience.

I believe it can. My advice (in my limited experience) - keep an eye and ear out. If it gets more aggressive (lasts longer and you can here lots of congestion with it) then definitely call the ped.
When they are teething there is so much saliva and there can even be some nasal drip that tickles the throat..causing the cough.

I think so. They drool more, so they may cough on that from time to time. Definitely keep an eye on it though and see if you think DC has a cold or other problem.

This is what I think is happening. Well right now he hasn't been coughing since he's had his binky in his mouth. The coughing seems worse when he lays down.

It never hurts to call the doctor.
If he isn't feeling well, isn't it better to take him to the doctor rather than letting him somewhat suffer?

Of course I don't want him to suffer. I'm just monitoring him right now. But maybe I will call the doctor later.
