Can shoes cause balance issues?

In my "Welcome to toddlerhood" post, I mentioned that James has been off-balance for a few days.

I mentioned it to my sitter this morning and she thinks that his sneakers might be too tight and that's what's causing his balance issues. He's wearing a 4.5, should I get him a pair of 5's and see what happens? Chat Icon

He does have a well-visit this afternoon and I'll be sure to check that his ears are clear.... Chat Icon

Never heard of it, but any pair of shoes that don't fit right can cause some discomfort in walking.
Have you had his feet measured? I had to get Mason's b/c he has fat feet. Went to Nordstroms and they did it there. Got a couple of pairs of Striderite and he's fine in them. I think he's a size 5.
I'd get them measured and it doesn't hurt to ask the ped as well.

Miss you V!!! Chat Icon

Miss you too! And now it's MY turn to owe you a phone call! The PT came the second you and I hung up the other day.

I'll have to get him measured. The last time he was measured was at the end of the summer and he was a 4 back then. He actually has pretty small (and SMELLY! Chat Icon ) feet.
