Can I water down his milk?

He loves milk and has since day #1. This is great news, but the dr doesn't want him drinking so much. She suggested bottles of water, which he's not into. And he doesn't like juice. (Which the dr said was a good thing)

Since we still have some formula, I've been doing about half the recommended formula for the amount of water. (Thus cutting down on on his dairy intake) He's been fine with that, but I'm wondering if I can do that with milk too.

He'd drink 40-50 ounces per day if we'd let him. He's down to 32 ounces, which he is screaming for more. Has anybody done this?

Hmmm instead of giving him whole milk could he have 2% or 1%? Ask the ped first...

I water down my girls milk.

If i make em 4 ounces, they get 2 ounces of water.

My little one loves milk.

But i'm in for tough love..they only get 16-20 ounces a day, any more than that they are out of luck..they can scream and cry all they want
I'd offer the water, and if they are thirsty they'll drink it, or sometimes they are asking for milk cause they are actually hungry, not thirsty.

Interesting, I never thought of this. I should try this with Maddie's soy milk. She can drink gallons if we let her but the ped said no more than 24oz a day.

Yes, I have done it to prevent DS from drinking too much milk.

I've started doing that with Ella's milk. She LOVES her milk, so she drinks too much and eats too little.

I'm trying to transition her away from her milk addiction
