Can I start DC on veggies at the same as...
I am starting him on fruits? Doctor said it was ok and I was wondering what you ladies did...
Today is the second day that he's had applesauce. Doctor said I could give him veggies for lunch.
What do you ladies think...
Oh and I asked about the ounces of milk he should be having and he said 20 ounces a day is fine. DS right now is at 24 but if he suddenly goes down to 20 then i'll know it's ok, I mean he is having solids now too.

I started fuits and veggies at the same time. A fruit in the morning and a veggie at dinner.

Really - then if they have an allergic reaction how would you know what the reaction is to?

Well, I'm assuming by "the same time", you mean you waited a couple of days after a fruit to try a new veggie. Right? I would just be careful about starting something on the same day.

I was told to start with yellow veggies and not carrots though. I started with squash or sweet potatoes.

I'm bad too, the second child syndrome.  I did not wait to see if there were any reactions. My son did well and there are no food allergies in my family, so we went right ahead.

Oh - ok.
DH has allergies to some foods so the doctors wanted us to be careful.

This is my first child so maybe I should be more careful. I'll do fruits for two weeks maybe one, and then go to veggies. What I will for now is give him fruit for lunch as well. Since the doctor said to make it veggies I'll just make it fruit.

I started with veggies first and then fruit. As long as you have 3 days of one before starting on the other to check for allergies or reactions,I'd say you're fine.

I was told to start with veggies first because if you start with fruits to soon then your DD of DS will get too used to the sweet of the fruits and will be less likly to eat the veggies. Also, I was told not to start two new things in one day because of the possibility of allergies.
