Can DD be giving up naps at 25 months?
The last week or so we put her in her crib at 1pm (her nap time for about 6 months now) and she doesn't go to sleep until after 2 (if at all.)
I thought kids nap until 3 - 4 years old? If I push her nap too late she won't sleep at night. What do I do?
ETA: yes she gets really cranky with no nap.

What is her normal nap schedule (how many and what times)?
PS: At around 2 yrs old kids usually drop one of their naps....

What is her normal nap schedule (how many and what times)?
PS: At around 2 yrs old kids usually drop one of their naps....
She dropped to 1 nap around 16 months or so. She goes into her crib every day after lunch - around 1pm. She'd usually play for about 15 minutes to a half hour and sleep until 3 - 3:30. Pretty consistenly.
This last week we put her in at 1 and she doesn't fall asleep until 2:30 and then sleeps until 4:30.
It seems she DOES eventually fall asleep but 2:30 - 4:30 is too late. She goes to bed at 8pm and I don't want to put her in any later. It's weird because it's not like she's waking up any later. She always gets up between 6:30 and 7 (with an occassional 7:30 - but not today.)

Seems like your DD and my DS are on the same schedule! My son never took more than 1 nap per day, but for awhile his schedule was a 630am wake up, a 1230 - 2/230-ish nap, and then bed at 7:30/8. He needed the nap or he was a huge crankpot, and I never let him sleep past 3 or getting him to sleep at night was a horror.
Starting around 23 months or so, he just started REFUSING to nap. Now at 25 months, it is still a struggle. I would say he takes a nap only 3 or 4 days per week max, and it takes us an hour to get him to sleep - we have to literally lay down with him and let him scream himself to sleep because otherwise he would just get up (he is in a bed now).
My mother said that it is common for some 2 year olds to give up their nap, but I refuse to believe it - or I am at least in denial, otherwise I will go insane. I am going to try to force him to nap until he is 5!!

Why is 2-4:30pm to late? Does it mess up her 8pm bedtime?

Can you put her in at like 12-12:30 and maybe she'd fall asleep between 1-2?
I don't think she is giving up the nap since she is sleeping, but maybe her schedule is changing?

Kaitee dropped naps around 25 months (she dropped her first nap at 17 mobnths old).
Now at 29 months old I can sometimes get her to take a nap (maybe once a week).

DD is the same way. She only naps like 3 or 4 days a week now. She is 2 1/2. She gets up at like 8, used to nap from 12:30 - 2:30. Now if she does nap, she is up until 9:30 - 10 pm and if she does't she is in bed by 7:45 - 8 but she is cranky 1/2 the day. I feel like I can't win either way. Honestly, I give her naps now at my convience. It sounds selfish I know but either I have to deal with a cranky child or a late bed time.

Those who DC don't always nap at this ate - do you give quiet time in their crib/bed?
