Can anyone recomend a vet that specializes in cancer for a dog??

My mom's dog has a very large mass around his heart and lungs. While there is not much hope due to the size, my parents still want to try to prolong his life as he is only 5 years old. Does anyone have experience with this?? Can you recomend your vet??

Thanks Chat Icon

Re: Can anyone recomend a vet that specializes in cancer for a dog??

I highly recommend the center for specialized veterinary care on cantiagu rock road. They are excellent and compassionate. We had a nine month old purebreed kitten we had to take there when he became unable to walk, sadly we had to put him to sleep a week before our wedding because he had lymphoma and there was no treatment for him. he was getting progressively worse by the hour. They were amazing though, and the entire time we were there we saw a vast number of pets being treated there for cancer. We had brought a cat of ours there once before when he started having trouble breathing, turned out he has aspirational pneumonia from our vet anesthetizing him to groom him, needless to say we no longer use that vet. We currently take our cat to Quality Veterinary Care in elmont on meecham ave. Dr. Melhrose and Bates are amazing and care more for the pets than the money. If youd like the number or any info for either please feel free to fm me.

The Center for Vetereinary Care-Compassionate Care. Thants wheree we have been taking Mercedes and instead of the 3 week my original vet gave her to live, as of tioday (but if you reaad my post from yesterday) they have giveen her the best 18 months of her life so far. Dr. Brodsky was our oncology doctor as well as Doctor Lindermann- I could not have asked for a better doctor. They are caring, patient, king and will answer any and all questions. Feel free to FM me with any questions.

The Center for Specialized Veterinary Care! They are wonderful there. We took my Mom's dog there.

I took my dog to Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview and DID NOT have a very good experience. I wish I would have known about The Center for Specialized Veterinary Care when Shawnee was alive.

I absoutely reccommend the veterinary oncologist Dr. Bailey at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview on the South Service Road!!! My black lab had bone cancer. They had to remove his right leg and give him chemo....they are wonderful people!!! Caring, understanding, and know just what to say and do to make it a bit easier for the family.

We go to Long island vet specialists but don't see Dr Bailey. The oncologist there is Dr Arteago.

She was diagnosed in the spring on 2007 with lymphoma. Originally The oncologist was Dr Ettinger. Wasn't too pleased with that experience.

Second treatment is with Dr Arteago and I am much happier with her.
