It's a process that definitely takes time to become familiar with. To comment on some of your questions, you can ask for counseling for the anxiety. Or Parent Training to help you help your child with it. I would suggest becoming involved with SEPTA in your school district ( sp ed PTA) and speaking with a parent who has been through this.

Also the agency you use will typically call you prior to your meeting. Ask them some of these questions--or call them ahead of time and ask for someone to call you prior to the meeting. because you have some questions.

I also think you can choose any agency you want--sometimes the districts typically use the same one or two and will try to steer you in that direction. But you can choose for the services (I'm pretty sure). Also do not hold back your child from attending school because you think tngey will have problems separating. Let whatever happens happen and they will deal with it. If it needs to go through the CPSE because there are issues with separating over time you just have to ask for a meeting (assuming the child already has an IEP). You can ask for a special preschool but it's hard to qualify for that (the child has to have many needs). They can start special preschool any time of year.

Thank you so much for your help. We cannot afford preschool and are hoping to get the lottery for the UPK next year. But I think it will be very hard for him with the anxiety issues which is why I was hoping for some kind of help with that so that he will be able to attend UPK next year without problems.
ETA - the separation/anxiety is not the common type it goes beyond that - DS wont even go to another floor of the house without me- even just to get a toy and come right back.
