Can anyone help me? Unexplicably fussy at bottle starting at 2 months?

I'm at a loss here with DD.

She was the best baby when it came to taking her bottle up until 2 months old.

She was sleeping a good 8-9 hrs, bottle, then another 3-4 hrs for 12 hours of total nighttime sleep since 8 weeks.

Then out of nowhere it got worse and worse, down to 7 hrs, then 6, now 5, and also fussing which I can soothe by popping a paci in her mouth, but this is also 3-4x a night.

And she has been progressively starting to refuse her bottles, she went from 3-5 ozs to now 2.5ozs with great effort and lots of screaming.

Is it possible to develop reflux at 2 mos if she didn't have it before?

Could it be a reaction to her shots? It seems like this started right after her 2 mo shots and 3 days ago she got another shot bc the ped office did not have one at her 2 mo visit. Coincidentally that is when all things went to hell.

I'm grasping at straws here bc I just don't get why this would start at 2 mos and get worse when she was so good before.

She screams her head off at every bottle but is great otherwise. She is not fussy during the day and naps well.

Any ideas on what is going on with her?

This actually happened to us at 2 mos also. Ped told us to go up in nipple flow which I was surprised at since she was so young but it worked.

DS did that around 6 weeks old, totally out of nowhere just started freaking with his bottles. I took him to the ped at 7 weeks and we gave him zantac, switched to similac sensitive, used mylicon drops, and put rice cereal in his bottles. All that helped within a few days.

ETA: I just saw Ali 's post, I tried 4 different bottles and all nipple flows and sizes all within the same day, it didnt work thats when I knew something else was wrong. You can try all that first.

Yes! Happened to us at around that point.
We swtiched to an AR formula and a slow flow nipple and it helped a lot!

I was just going to say the same thing as PP, move up the nipple flow. She is getting frustrated that the food isn't coming out fast enough.Chat Icon

eta...just saw your update....I would still up the nipple flow...give her time to adjust. She might also be having a small growth spurt.

Yes, around this time I increased the size of the nipple. It was taking him longer to finish a 4 oz bottle and he was getting fussy.

The first couple of times he got too much, but he was able to figure it out quickly enough.

Thsi is what I was going to suggest as well...My DS got frusturated at the slower flow and would turn his head away and arch his back etc...As soon as we upped the flow, he was 100 x betterChat Icon

DD is already on Soy Sensitive, which helped a ton from the regular, I use mylicon at every bottle, so maybe it is possible to develop reflux later one?

I think it possible to develop reflux later it. It happened with both my friend's DD and my cousin's DS around the same time. They both screamed during and after each feeding and would arch their backs and pull away. My cousin said her DS also sounded congested. They were both put on Zantac and that seemed to help.
