Can an infant have an ear infection with absolutely no congestion?
DS has been tugging on his ear a bit, but I'm not sure if it could be an ear infection. He hasn't been congested at all. Is it possible without a cold? He is teething, could this be why? We are going away next week and I don't want to take him on a plane if he has one. TIA!

absolutely. IMO when in doubt take them in. Take it from me ~ my daughter has had so many ear infections! She is only 2. One time I took her in and when I got there noticed yellow gook all over the side of her face - a whole lot - and he said her ear drum just ruptured!

Oh and it could be teething, but really if you are headed on a plane IMO now would be the time to just go. My daughter flew to Florida in Feb and when we got there she was so upset I had to take her to an urgent care and yep - she had a DOUBLE ear infection :(

My dd has had a lot of ear infections and has never had any congestion or fever. So yes its totally possible, although it could be teething.

Yes.
Her only symptom was a slight fever and being extremely cranky and not sleeping- just crying all night long.

Oh yes. Ds had many a couple of ear infections with no congestions. If you're traveling and he's been tugging just get him checked out.
