And if so what does it look like? DD has been running a low grade fever for 2 days and today woke up with red, itchy bumps on her legs. They almost look like bug bites but seem to be multiplying. A few on hands and chest too.Chat Icon

I was always told the short answer is yes. Less likely but they can still get it. Its just less dangerous. Not for nothing, but I bet if you google image chicken pox toddler you may get some pictures of others. Just to give you an idea (NOT for proof) and I'd suggest seeing the doc to be sure.

From what I read and heard and what the ped told me they can absolutely get it. Better for her if she has it b/c now she will likely have lifelong immunity!

YES!! My mom had shingles not long after DD#1 got her vaccination. My step grandfather who is in his 90s got it a few weeks ago. My ped said that once they get the shot (after I forget how many weeks for the initial immunity to start) they get 80% immunity from the shot but that they can still catch CP. So YES they CAN get it - but according to him they only get a very mild case IF they catch it.

I don't know - they didn't have the vaccine when I was a child and I only had 5 spots total - so not sure what they call a mild case if your DD has a number of spots already.
