Camp all summer or no?

Older DS has been going to recreation day camp for the last two summers. But since we don't live in that town (it's where I grew up) I have to pay out of resident fee of $1200. That's not the problem. The thing us, since school started late this year and runs late, school ends Friday and camp starts Monday. We usually rent a house in CT shore and we won't be able to do that if get goes straight to camp. The end of the summer won't really work because DH and I are planning on going to Aruba alone for our 10 year anniversary. And I know DH will not take two trips in August.
So here are my two options... 1- send DS to camp and skip the shore house and day trips. DS does well being constantly occupied. 2- send DS to a two week sports camp and have more free time for trips, the beach and play dates. I would also get a season pass for the zoo and Lake Compounce.
I am off in the summer, so child care isn't an issue either way.

I'd choose option 2.

I would do the sports camp & rent the summer house. There are also lots of camps that do weekly fees (you circle which weeks you'd like).

Enjoy the rest of the time with your kids!
