Calling All Bartenders
i have a question for you.....
where do you think more money is at: serving tables tues-fri nights in a bar OR bartending day shifts?
(i can tell you how much i make doing tables in FM)
my friend is head bartender and is REALLY good. she has trained many people to become excellent bartenders. well, there is alot going on and my job (new management) and she was offered a job at this new place that opened up. She has not accepted but is thinking about it. Thing is she wants to take me with her. When she comes back fom holidays (January) we are going to spend several consecutive days of hardcore training me for bartender. Then once im good and ready she is going to see if they still want her at hte new place and say "cool, ill come, but im taking this girl with me". (she is honestly an amzing bartender and they owuld do anything to ahve her--they actually wanted her to be co-owner) So....... with that said, of course i would not expect to work nights. Which is fine.....
but i was just wondering do you htink it will def be more money? the same? less?
i totally forgot to ask her nad i have to check this place out.

The day shifts in most bars are usually pretty bad. My guess is to take any nightly shift you can get... whether it be waitress or bartender.

Re: Calling All Bartenders
It really depends on the place and also the shift hours. If you work from 10am-8pm and the place does a decent happy hour then you can make some good $$$. Also, if the place does a good lunch bussiness and serves at the bar that adds up too.

Re: Calling All Bartenders
I was a cocktail waitress in the hamptons for 4 yrs about 2 yrs ago. I would honestly say that tues-fri nights sound better then doing afternoor shifts. I know someone mentioned happy hour, that probably falls into night shift anyhow, right? I guess its also up to you in terms of if u need the daytime or night time to yourself. In terms of $$ I would go with night shift. Though since u r probably in manhattan u might get the business class during lunch hrs

Re: Calling All Bartenders
i bartended at a fast paced, upscale restaurant/club (it was really a meat market)here in huntington, and when i worked nights it was much more lucrative, i worked the service bar for a few days/nights and made a decent amount since the waitstaff had to tip us out as well, however, on Monday night and friday nights in the summer, I would make a ton working the main bar (the drinks were so easy mostly frozen drinks, beer, wine and the popular drinks were on the gun so I could serve quickly, which meant more tips!)
