Cake batter ice cream OK?
I've been eating cake batter ice cream from Cold Stone, and it just occurred to me that since we aren't supposed to eat cake batter, maybe we aren't supposed to eat the ice cream?
What do you all think? it's one of my "i'm still down a few pounds" splurges!

I think it would be different if you were making your own cake batter ice cream, but anything you are getting from a store or a shop is safe to consume in that regard-- it shouldn't have actual raw eggs in it.

I would eat it from most places, but I know that Cold Stone had an EColi issue with their cake batter ice cream a few years ago.

Oh man, I ddint hear that about COld Stone--just Cake Batter!
Tell me...what did you hear?
Truthfully though, I am a BIG ice cream lover and I do love cold stone 
But I have stayed away from Cold Stone in particular since getting my BFP bc it really is SOOOO FATTENING! But I do have my share of CARVEL!!!
And I am sure I will spurlge on Cold stone at some point during the next 8 months!!!

Me too. I'm pretty sure it was their cake batter ice cream does contain raw eggs.
And while we're on the ice cream subject again, I might as well put in the FYI that soft serve is not recommended either because of the listeria danger.

I love it too!  I had some buy 1, get one free coupons, and i ate both myself! hey, i'm eating for two!
apparently no raw dough b/c of raw eggs...

There was a problem a few years ago with the cake batter ice cream being made with raw eggs. They resolved it, and they no longer use raw eggs.
Completely safe.

I heard that soft serve ice cream isn't safe and I'm sooo upset about it. That means no soft serve carvel, McFlurries, TCBY, right??

I heard this too and I think the reason is how it's served, not necissarily the actual ice cream. Something about the parts of the machine can hold bacteria so they suggest avoiding it.

oh SHOOT....I make this topping for my apple pie - one egg, melted butter, sugar, flour and walnuts- and man I enjoyed the batter before I cooked it.
OOPS why didn't I think?
I guess its safe to assume I'm okay since I didn't get sick?
