That's what we did too...just one box although I am thinking about getting another one for the bedroom. It gets so annoying when you can't watch tv because you have two things recording. I didnt realize how frequently that would happen. Or the other problem is when I have three shows at the same time. I have to record two shows in the living room and watch the third one in the bedroom.Chat Icon

Ditto...I would love another, but don't know if I want to pay $9.95 for it. I've heard that Cablevision MAY be going to a method where they store your saved shows on a server...no box required, still $9.95/month. Still in the beginning stages of negotiation because of commericals. Once the shows are recorded on their servers, it becomes their property again and they are negotiating how to make people allowed to fast forward through commercials. I wouldn't want a DVR if I couldn't do that! That's 85% of its charm! Chat Icon

Re: cablevision dvr ?

I recently had an issue with hooking up my new surround sound so I went to the cablevision dvr manufacturers website. They do sell a multiroom dvr box which uses one single dvr box and allows for you to use any other box in the house to watch the programming. I was like why don't we have that. Then I realized that cablevision couldn't suck you dry as they used to do with requiring mutiple cable modems in one house. It's all about the almighty dollar.

Everything you just said is true. (I have an insider at Cable Chat Icon). They are working on it and hope to be able to release it in the coming months (which more then likely will be extended to year). I really hope they work out the kinks!

We do have 2 DVR's and believe it our not I believe it's worth every penny.

It does but I would prefer free lube with my triple play after the first year is over. At least then it woulnd't hurt so bad.

They should offer this and charge $14.95/month. I'd so do that.

Re: cablevision dvr ?

Okay, new news from my inside source at Cablevision.

They are still working on the network DVR service, but its still in court. They haven't even started working on the technology yet.

The reason they are not doing the multiroom DVR is because they want to find out the outcome of the network DVR situation because network DVR would be easier to support and would require no "DVR" box.
