Re: C-section recovery
It's different for everyone. Some people bounce back fast, others.......like me.......not so much.
I won't lie, it hurts like a mother effer afterwards. I never felt pain like that. Getting out of bed and walking for the first time was h-e-l-l. My days in the hospital were the hardest but it is true what they say, each day is better than the last. Within the first two weeks I was getting around a lot better and feeling more like my old self. It took a few weeks though before I felt fully recovered.
It stinks but you will survive. I did, and trust me, there were some days I didn't think I would but it's only temporary and before you know it you'll be back to your old self.

C-section recovery
My SIL said by the time she got home she was sore but the severe pain had gone away. It definitely is different for everyone.

Re: C-section recovery
the first day you are numb - then comes day 2. Days 2-5 are pretty bad but it gets better quickly. by 2 weeks, I was pretty much 100% myself.

I completely agree with this. The first couple of days were hard. It's hard to sit up, walk around, get up, etc. After a week it was easier to move around, but bending down was still a challenge. After a week and a half I felt almost normal. I'm 2 weeks pp and I feel fine now.

Re: C-section recovery
It really depends. I had an unexpectedly amazing c-section experience... I don't know what kind of med cocktail they gave me with the spinal tap but I had 0 pain. I was numb for the first day and by day two, I was in and out of bed and walking with no problem. Don't get me wrong, it was uncomfortable to get up and sit down, but it wasn't painful at all. I didn't even have to take a Motrin in the hospital. Everyone is different though. I have friends/family members who had a rough recovery and don't believe me when I tell them that my recovery went so smoothly. Because I had a good experience the first time, I'm kinda nervous about c-section number two!

C-section recovery
mine sucked. but i had an emergency c-section and a lot of other complications so if yours is planned hopefully it wont be so bad. i was on morphine for 24+ hours after mine, then percocet, then after i went home i took 3 advil/motrin every 3 hours for about 8 weeks or so. def walk as soon as possible, it helps with the healing immensely. i wasnt able to (not by choice) until over 48 hours after c-section and that's part of why my recovery was so bad.

Re: C-section recovery
It wasn't bad at all. It was hard getting out of bed on day 1 and a little of day 2, but that was really it. Worst part was gas pain on day 2. A week later I felt almost normal.

C-section recovery
Mine was planned and it was fine! I was moving around 24 hrs after the c-section, per my doctors orders (or I would have tried to move day 1). I was doing laps around the maternity floor and walking to get my DD from day 2-5, while I was in the hospital. It was a little uncomfortable to get out of bed day 2, but by day 3, it was fine! I didn't take any meds other then motrin after my first pain meds wore off. Good Luck!

Re: C-section recovery
It depends on so many things..
My first csection was an emergency one and not done by my regular dr. It wasn't horrible but I was defintely feeling the pain the days after. My second one was much better! I needed much less pain meds and overall felt better a lot quicker.

Re: C-section recovery
Everyone is different I asked my friend this and she'll say it's awful. My recovery was not bad at all I actually recovered better than with my vaginal birth with episiotomy. It was not planned but was not an emergency either baby just would not come down. My OB ordered a topper and then removed spinal catheter in the or. Next morning ( less than 24 hrs after c section) nurse had me sitting up in a chair my catheter was removed and was walking. I took Motrin and percoset at night gas was the only tough part. I would say by 5 days I felt fine by 2 weeks back to normal.

I had a c section with DD. My recovery wasn't bad at all...I was walking fine by the time I left the hospital and I only took Percocet one time right after.

This exactly. But with my second I opted for a repeat c section. Go figure you will be fine

Exactly this. The nurse got me out of bed to clean up after 12 hours but then back to bed till morning. In the morning i got up and showered and kept moving. I promised DH i would take it easy for 1 week which i did and i really think that helped. But after that i was out walking, driving, shopping etc with DS everyday and felt great.

C-section recovery
Mine was an emergency C/S and I did not have ANY pain. Felt a little sore after, but no real pain. Never took any meds, not even motrin. Everyone is different!

Re: C-section recovery
Everyone is different - and every handles pain and stress and being uncomfortable differently.
I didn't thinki it was bad, at all - I have had two
I got up and unhooked from the IVs and in the bathroom and shower by myself within hours .....I took the pain meds while I was in the hospital b/c I don't see any reason NOT to ......and when I got home, I think I felt like I needed them once - because I wanted to go out
I am also not one to sit around and 'recover' for 3 weeks ......even if I AM in pain - so I kind of just pushed through any discomfort. But honestly, it wasn't that bad.
You'll hear a million horror stories, ignore those. - You will be fine !!

C-section recovery
I am tough. I've been through a lot medically (not pg related). I also don't know how to sit still because I am a go-getter. The C-section kicked my ass and turned me into the biggest pansy-ass Mary ever, I even told the Dr. that! They give you these fabulous pain meds in the hospital. You feel like superwoman. Then, you get home and they're not there anymore, and for me, the Motrin didn't cut it. Aside from the pain was discomfort and the threat of opening the wound again.... I guess it was just upsetting to me because I couldn't "do" everything.
I am praying they let me do a Vback with the next baby.
So many of my friends bounced back much more quickly and better than I did.

Re: C-section recovery
Ok I am not going to lie. It sucked for me, but my circumstances were a little different. I had been on hospital bedrest almost a month, my water broke 4 days before the babies were born, and then ended up with an emergency C-section. After four days and lots of pain meds, I was still in a lot of pain. I was starting to walk a little more, but the pain was not getting much better. I was discharged, but readmitted a few hours later that day because I had a high fever. I ended up having an infection in my uterus which is why the pain was so intense so I was re-admitted for another 2 days in the hospital to be put on antibiotics and monitored closely. After I left, the pain was a little better but I still felt like I had a tough recovery. It may be due to the fact that I was going back and forth an hour each way to the hospital every day to visit the babies in the NICU so I never really stopped to take care of myself. Hopefully your experience is much easier!

Mine wasn't bad, I felt 100% after like 9 days. I didn't go back to playing sports until after the 6 weeks though - I didn't want to screw anything up.
