C-Section Rate at All-Time High in U.S.
THURSDAY, Aug. 17 (HealthDay News)
The Caesarean section delivery rate stands at a record high in the United States, resisting efforts by federal health officials to reduce the rate to 15 percent by the year 2010.
Nearly 1.2 million C-sections -- 29.1 percent of all births -- were performed in the United States in 2004, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. In 1996, the rate was 20.7 percent.
