C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I just had a repeat c-section on 10/4 to deliver DS#2. I had a tough recovery with DS#1 and it seems I'm having a tough recovery with this one. I have a seroma, the baby blues have kicked in so I'm still in "crying" mode, not to mention the immense guilt i feel for not being able to hold DS#1 who is almost 18 months old.
Whe di you guys start feeling"normal" again...especially repeat c-section moms?
I know that what I am feeling is normal but I really need to hear that I'm not the only one who feels this way and who has gone through this.
Please share with me...I really need the support.
TIA

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I felt awful after my repeat section. I was supposed to have a vbac and felt incredible guilt and sadness I had another section. At about 3 weeks pp my baby blues peaked, I could not stop crying, didn't want to eat... I hated that I couldn't pick up my other two kids - that my mom and DH were pretty much taking care of them while I was bed recovering.. and crying. I developed a blister on the incision that was painful and gross and it took awhile for that to go away. About 4 weeks PP I started to feel better, especially as I was able to get back into a routine. It took about 3 months for the pain from the inscion to completely go away this time. I think because I became so active so quickly chasing around the other two.
Hang in there, it will get better.

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I felt I was nervous doing things after #1. #2&3. I took charge and started moving. I was jogging at 5 weeks and this time 2 weeks. Im 7 weeks now and this past week I have been lifting my 6 yo into his bed no problem. I even laid on my stomach this week.
I know its not all mind over matter, but I think getting moving and knowing i could dogo things helped me.

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
Ooooof, not what I wanted to read. I had a terrible with my c-section. I had the same thing.....Got a seroma and had to have the home care nurses come 2x a day to open it, drain it, irrigate it, and pack it with gauze. It had to heal from the bottom up, so it was pretty painful for almost a month. I also had to go to my OB's office to have it checked once a week until I was discharged from the home care service. Couldn't drive, couldn't walk, couldn't move without that stinging pain in my incision. Now I have to have a repeat section in March for DC #2. I'm so scared I'm going to end up with a seroma again.
That being said, I think it was a little over a month, maybe like 6.5 weeks when the dark cloud started to clear & I stopped crying. I felt pretty good by 8 weeks. I think what you're going through is normal. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I had one csection, but recovery took awhile.
I don't remember when I felt physically normal. Each day was just the tiniest better than the one before. Once morning I woke up and realized I hadn't taken any painkillers in awhile.
For me, getting better mentally took longer.
edited for spelling.

Congratulations!!! I am sorry you are feeling yucky! I know exactly how you feel! It feels like you will never feel normal again. But I will tell you I am just about 3 months post my 2nd c section and I feel 100% back to myself (and have for at least a month now!) so it will get better!

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I only had 1, and recovery was tough, physically and emotionally. Thankfully, I have a great circle of friends who called non stop daily, just to 'check in' on me, share thoughts, experiences. Having other mommies to talk to daily about stuff really helped me with the blues part.

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I had a tough time after CS#2, CS#1 was a nightmare so I had ALOT of anxiety about the repeat CS. My 3 weeks PP I was a wreck, DD hated me because I was gone for 5 days and when she did come and visit me in the hospital she cried because it figured the moment she walked in the door to my room was right after the nurse had pressed down on my uterus to make sure it was shrinking and I was still in alot of pain, almost hit her by reaction it hurt so bad. Felt bad DD was so upset, she didn't want me near her, touch her, hold her for a week after I got home, that hurt alot. Then DH brought home fleas from his job and infested our house so he stopped helping me while I was still adjusting to a newborn and a toddler and starting tearing up all the carpets in the house, I was ready to check myself into a mental facility. MIL tried to help as much as she could but SIL was also due with her 1st baby which had complications so it was an all around crappy recovery, it was more painful ten my last c-section. Im now 7 weeks PP and things are better than they were but not where I was hoping they would be. I felt like I was falling into a deep black hole and could stop crying for weeks, it's just now starting to get better. Hugs for you!

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
Wow! I thought there was something WRONG with me that I had the baby blues so badly. I actually thought it was PPD!
DS is officially 2 months old today and it's like night and day from the weeks following my c-section! I don't remember when I officially felt feeling much better... maybe 4-5 weeks? Before that, I cried at everything, felt lonely, depressed, scared, guilty, regretful... like there was something seriously wrong with me.
Although it sucked, it helps now knowing that it was just par for the course and they weren't "real" feelings.
As for the physical side, I felt better day by day - and much better by 2-3 weeks. Now, however, I have a tugging feeling where I had the c-section that SUCKS when I try to do any work out. Ugh...

Re: C-section BTDT Moms - Need Support
I felt awful after my first c section , and I was shaking so bad when they first gave him to me to hold I told them to take him back and give him to DH I think the worst part is that my mom was there and I think it broke her heart to see that. Ds wasn't breathing properly so I dint see him until 6 hours after they took him. The spinal came out of my spine and the pain was so intense I just had no luck that surgery !! 2 week after when I had to take ds to the doctor I had trouble walking and holding his carrier.
I def was very Teary eyed for a while with him. My second c sec was totally different so weird how that happens.
I started feeling well about 6 weeks after he was born and then he had colic and reflux!! I have to laugh about it because it would have made me crazy!!!
I hope you feel better soon!!
