C-sec. moms- anyone have Mastisol allergy?

I'm just curious if anyone else who has had a C-section found out they were allergic to Mastisol- the liquid adhesive used to hold surgical tape strips in place for the outer incision.

I have broken out in itchy, red, swollen, oozing bumps which my Dr. concluded from the location was where they used the adhesive.

I've been put on Augmentin (antibiotic) and have been using topical benadryl cream but wanted to see if there is anyone else who had this.

I too had a c-section and ended up with raw, peeling skin and green and white ***** oozing soars from the tape. I am not sure if it was called Mastisol. What they used for me was this white flexible fabric bandage tape. The steri-strips did not bother me. The night nurse at the hospital who removed the tape for me recognized the problem and the soclution was to use milk of magnesia. You can get Malox in the drug store and it is a more diluted form of it. Put the milk of magnesia on gauze square (soak them) and then put them on the open soars. This will relieve the pain and itching. You have to lay with the air touching the soars. You need to reapply new ones every time you feel the gauze drying out. I had someone in my house for the first two weeks because I had muscle atrophy from the besd rest and healing from the c-section. It was very hard to deal with the soars and a new baby. I am so sorry you have them. I hope you feel better soon. Because it was hard to bend at first the nurse would help me dress the wounds.
