Buying Shoes for Summer
My dd is 20 months. She has small feet. Has never had a growth spurt where her feet were concerned. She seems to be average with it, she grows maybe half a size every 3 months. I want to start buying her sandals but I don't know how much bigger to go. A lot of stores I shop in only sell whole sizes so do I go the whole size up? Or do I still get the current size Im buying which she still has room to grow right now in all her shoes. =/ Im so confused!

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
I would wait & buy during the summer. Sizes are also not all equal (some tighter than others). Why rush?

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
I bought summer croc type things at ON and went 2 sizes up. They are good in 4 now so I figure 6 will work in July? They were 3 in Sept-Dec.

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
Idk, it's so hard to judge. DD grew 1.5 sizes in 3 months when I last had her measured.

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
I bought two pairs at ON as they were only $10 and I had a coupon. If you wait until the spring/summer you will have a very bad time and not be able to find what you need. Do not wait. I bought both of my kids summer shoes last month a full size up from their current size. HTH

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
Wait. It's not sandal season anyway for quite some time anyway so why take a chance they won't fit. No need to buy summer things so far in advance. I buy in May and there is plenty of selection.

Buying Shoes for Summer
I've been tempted to get sandals but I'm holding off as Much as possible. One size up should be fine though.

Buying Shoes for Summer
DD is the same, she has smaller feet and she has never had a growth spurt where they were concerned. I bought her a pair of spring type shoes the other day where they were still closed, but strappy with holes so she wouldn't need to wear socks for those still chilly spring days. she wears a size 3 now and i thought for sure a size 4 would be needed but when i had her try them on the 4 was huge so i got the 3. DD is 12 months and i also wanted to buy her summer shoes but i'm going to wait until its closer because since some sandals are more strappy then others if they are too big her feet might be sliding around when she walks and she could fall if the shoes are too big.

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
tough call. while spring is only a month or two away... to get through summer we're talking another 6 months completely... sooo I'd buy a full size up and they should prob fit her at some point, IMO.
dd was measured in the fall as a 3.5 and then in January as a 4.5... so I'm assuming in the spring she'll be around a 5 and maybe a 6 over the summer but I'm waiting until april to buy anything for spring. shoes are too freakin expensive lol... unless the return policy is good - then in that case, I'd buy 2 different sizes and you can just return what doesn't fit

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
Ive been eyeing some sandals for my dd too. If they are cheap enough maybe buy two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit when it comes to summer. Unless the store has a short term return policy. Or you could still buy 2 sizes and return the other as close to the return date as possible. Ive been doing this with bathing suits for the summer. Ive bought 2 sizes and I will return what doesn't fit come summer time. Luckily they were from stores with no return policy.

Re: Buying Shoes for Summer
I'm not buying summer shoes for my DD until much closer to summer. She also has small feet (still fits into 4.5 at 20 months), and I want to make sure I get the right fit for the summer. Then again, I also don't buy her many pairs of shoes at once. For the summer, she will probably have 1 pair of sneakers, one pair of sandals, and one pair of nicer shoes.
