Buying Life Insurance while Pregnant? (medical exam question)
Has anyone bought a policy and gone through the medical exam for it?
DH and I are trying to get answers on how much leeway they give a preggo. I was at one of my highest weights when I got pregnant and know that I'm currently pretty high on the weight charts for my height. My BP and is normal and healthy for a preggo, but not for someone that isn't pregnant.
How do they calculate the different payment tiers (best health, avg health, etc.) for a preggo?
Part of me wants to wait a year or so to get the life insurance when I can get my weight back to normal and get the best rate, but the point is to have it because baby is coming!
Any advice?
ETA: the company DH is looking at sends a nurse to your house to test you if that changes your answer at all....

We just purchased more life insurance and I got approved at the best rate. I had already gained 30 lbs at that point and it didn't affect my rate at all. When you fill in the health questionnaire one of the questions was about if you had gained or lost more than 10 or 20lbs in the last year (I can't remember the exact amount). Then you just write notes that your weight gain was due to pregnancy and when your EDD is.
A friend of ours is an insurance salesman and we worked through him to figure out how much we needed and which company to purchase from. If you want his contact info, just let me know. I think we wound up going through TransAmerica and apparently they have some of the easiest screening restrictions.

we did it when I was preggo. They ask if you gained weight in the last year or so and then have a spot for a 'reason'. So I wrote in "pregnancy" so they would know that the weight gain was for that and not just an unhealthy reason. I also have a heart mummer and I still got the best tier. Good Luck.

I was pregnant the last time we updated our policies. I was early on though so weight gain wasn't an issue. My blood pressure didn't change during my pregnancies.
It didn't affect my rate at all.

we did it while pregnant and it was not a problem at all...
i was VERY pregnant at the time and the hardest part was waiting to pee until the guy got there! 
there are a few spots where you write that you are pregnant, so it's not a problem for things like weight, BP, etc.

They take the pre pregnancy weight, for starters.
Of course other things are ruled out since while pg, things can happen and change.

I was told to get disability insurance BEFORE getting pregnant. (it's much more $$ than life)
They did a pregnancy test on me, in addition to a LOT of bloodwork. I think it's quite a bit harder to get.

yes because they want to make sure you are not preggo before getting the disability insurance- they don't want to take someone on who is going to use the policy in less than 9 months.
With Aflac you can't use it for a birth that occurs less than 10 months after you sign up.
It's a bummer! But I can understand why they do it!

We had our physicals for life insurance when I was 24 weeks pg. It wasn't a big deal at all... she weighed me and to the question "have you gained more than 10 lbs in the past year" she just put down that I was pg.
