Buying kitchen appliances

Where is the best place to get a good deal on kitchen appliances?

I'm looking for a refrig, range, dishwasher and microwave. I would like a no payments for 12months or more deal.

Do NOT buy from Sears. Their customer service is horrendous! All my experiences dealing with customer service for my major purchases as been terrible. In part of one such incident where I asked to speak to a supervisor because the rep couldn't find my information - after asking me condescendingly if I was spelling my last name right and if I was sure I purchased from Sears, he connected me with a phone sex line. It only got worse from there.

Sears does have pretty bad customer service, but we got a GREAT deal on our appliances... so IMO it's worth it. We got 20% off plus two mail-in rebates (one from sears and one from maytag) and 6 months no interest/no payments!

We got a great deal too it doesn't make up for the horrendous service. Plus, all major retailers will match or beat Sears' price. I have had great service from Best Buy and will use them again.

Re: Buying kitchen appliances

i just got ours at appliance center in east northport. they gave me the best prices overall and then some except i'm not sure about them offering financing. i did my homework!! best buy matched and beat prices on some things. i just went in with the prices quoted from pcrichards and the best buy guy said "oh yeah i can give it to you for that price" even if it was well below what they were actually selling it for. only thing is i noticed is that a lot of the rebates being offered weren't valid if you purchased through best buy. i didn't like the people at sears. they were kind of snotty. and home depot and lowes were well overpriced with extras that they threw in. sorry my post is so long but i agonized about appliances for months before i finally got them!!! good luck.

Re: Buying kitchen appliances

Another vote for PC richards. But what I do is look at them in person, find out the model number and then seach the product by model number on line at consumer reports and look at the features similar models in my price range go for. I then will call up the different stores to ask what the price is and if they will match what I found on line. Then I will go shopping. I will say that PC Richards will negotiate with you and give you a deal - last time we got a lcd tv, a washer and a dryer and they basically gave us the dryer for less than 1/2 price. They also gave us free shipping. You have to ask what is the best price you can give me and if you have a print out of what you saw on line they have matched for me in the past.

We just came from Sears. First, we went to the East Northport one. We were pretty sold on Kenmore. They get good ratings and we liked the fit and feel. We were pretty close to a sale but there was something about the salesman we did not like. He talked down to us and said there would be no more sales for a while.

We left there with the model numbers and went to the Sears Appliance/Hardware only store in Hauppauge. The salesman was much more knowledgeable and very polite. He told us about a Nov 16th sale coming up. We decided to wait and do a little more research but will most likely go with Kenmore.

Re: Buying kitchen appliances

we got ours at PC Richards, since we were buying all of them at once, I wheeled and dealed a little bit and got a few hundred dollars off, and also financed it on their card, which they usually offer 12 mths interest free. good luck!!

For those of you who bought refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves and ranges at PC Richards or Sears, did you pay for installation or removal of old appliances?

We got our appliances from an appliance wholesaler. His office is next to my Dad's, so when he changed the floor models, we gave me all of the appliances for 50% off Chat Icon Chat Icon

PC Richard had the best price out of about 15 places, including wholesale stores.
PC richard matched the lowest price that we got.

Re: Buying kitchen appliances

I bought all of my GE Profile appliances wholesale at

Lakes appliances.....they had the cheapest prices, no tax and no shipping

HOWEVER..........they did not install, carry in or unload the appliances, it was "curbside" delivery
