Buying bedding a la carte?
If we have a boy, I want to buy the bedding from Hoohobbers. I was on the website last night and noticed that I can get the pieces separately rather than as a set. So I was considering just getting the sheet, bumpers and skirt; and omitting the matching blanket since I never used the comforter that came with DD's set. So if you had a choice, what would you do? Would you get the whole set just for completeness, or would you omit the matching blanket (it is not the kind of blanket that I can use as a wall-hanging either).

I actually don't think I will be registering for a whole set myself, so I think a la carte is fine. I guess i would just make sure it is actually cheaper that way.

Re: Buying bedding a la carte?
We're not getting a complete bedding set because some of the pieces are uselss and can't really be used. So were buying the bedding stuff a la carte.

Re: Buying bedding a la carte?
I think it is a great idea.
We bought a complete bedding set for DD and it was such a waster.
This time around, we'll buy the pieces we need individually-it just makes so much sense.

Re: Buying bedding a la carte?
I always use the comforter so it's worth it for me. I'm thinking of not getting the whole set either. I can buy a matching blanket. If I have a boy I think I only want bumpers and sheet. I don't even think i want the skirt.

Re: Buying bedding a la carte?
I bought DD's bedding a la carte b/c we were never going to put the blanket in the crib (or on the wall), and I wanted to have flexibility with the crib sheets. I like to mix and match things (a shabby chic look for her bedding).

Re: Buying bedding a la carte?
I went a la carte from Carousel Designs. My mom actually bought it for us so I still have not seen it in person (she's saving it for my shower!). Pics in album.
I only got the bumpers and a rocking chair pad. Did not need an accent pillow, did not need a diaper stacker, did not need a $34 sheet, not sure if I want a dust ruffle and their quilt was kind of plain.
My bedding is sock monkeys so I've ordered the fabric with coordinate patterns and will make a quilt myself plus recover a foot stool for the rocker and other accessories.
