Bumpers
I'm not here to start a debate. Just wanted to educate. Nothing really new, except for maybe the breathable bumpers part.

It doesn't mention why the breathable bumpers aren't recommended. They aren't sturdy enough to be a step to get out, there are no ties (velcro), and they don't smother. It would have been helpful if they mentioned why they are included. We had breathable bumpers 12 years ago, so none of this pertains to me, but I would still like to know, so I can let friends know why not to use them.

I was just about to post something similar.
I am using the breathable mesh bumpers and would like to know why this was mentioned but not explained.

Even though they are mesh, babies can still get caught in them, esp if they aren't installed properly. There's also no real evidence that they do anything.
I had them for a short time with DS but took them off since they didn't really do anything for him. The only reason I'd consider using them is to keep DD's pacis from falling out of the crib, but I've just been adding more pacis in to start the night.

That's why we used them. Without the breathable bumpers, DC would start with 2, or 4, or 8, or more pacis, and kick them all out during the night. With the bumpers, we all got a (relatively) full night of sleep, since they would pretty much all stay in the crib.
