Bumgenius cloth diapers

Does anyone have a review? How do I start? Does the 12-pack come with everything I need to start?

Re: Bumgenius cloth diapers

I have the BG Elemental AIOs

They are great as far as convenience and defiantly the favorite of my DH. I honestly would have told you a few months ago they are definitely a great thing to buy BUT after 2 years that have started to fall apart - REALLY BAD Chat Icon

I had planned on using my CD lot for DC #2 and I don't think these will make the cut. The cotton layers are ripped all over and starting to detach from the cover.

Ive googled the problem and it seems others have had this issue and some have notChat Icon . Not sure if im doing something to cause it or make worse. I have a few other cotton diapers like the Flip organic inserts and some prefolds that have some wear but nothing like the BG.

Curious to know if anyone else had this problem with BG.

I don't love our BGs. For the price, the quality isn't there. You can buy them cheapest on cottonbabies.com with coupon codes, from my experience.

My fave are kawaii bamboo. Plus they can be bought so cheap in co-ops.

There are lots of great and informative CD fb groups and co-ops.

My BG's are fine but I'm pretty new to CDing so I couldn't tell you about long term wear.

I just got in some brand new pockets from a co-op buy and I'm selling 3 of them bc it was grab bag and I don't really need more white and wasn't crazy about one of the prints. They don't have a brand but from what the other co-opers said they seem to be Alva's. Selling 3 of them for $4 each with no inserts. they are still in the plastic packaging. If anyone is interested let me know.

I'm not a fan. I use the fuzzi bunz perfect size and really love them. They come with 1 insert each. I would buy some hemp as well. For bed time we do a cover with a prefold and hemp inside. It is perfect. My sister uses the Thirsties hemp prefold and it is a very trim diaper.

Re: Bumgenius cloth diapers

In the minority here but I love them. I have about 30 of them. Used them for DS #1 and will use them for dd who will be here next year. Having said that, I only used them at night and when we went out. They are easier to put on and off at night and when you are out. At home during the day, I love my prefolds and wraps.

Edited to say I never paid full price for these. I only bought them on sale or bought their seconds. I even bought a few used that were in good shape but needed new aplix which was easy to replace on my own (they sent me the new aplix). I agree not worth paying full price for these.

I love them too, I've used them with all my kids - the OS AIO. I will say the velcro ones wore out before we were done using them, so for my last DC I got the snap ones which were much better.
I may try a different brand with this baby just for kicks, I'm curious about the prefolds.

Re: Bumgenius cloth diapers

since they are new you need only wash them before use to get any residues from manufacturing out. then dry.

I don't have a wet bag yet so I use a garbage bag until I can get one

I bought a pail at the dollar store. I use the shower sprayer to spray off poopy residue into the pail AFTER I've plopped whatever i could of the poop into the toilet. Then dump the poopy water into the toilet and put the rinsed diaper and insert (separately) into the bag. I do a CD wash every other day with tide (as long as it doesn't have any softeners added...that can affect absorbency) When washing you want to Rinse / wash / Rinse. some people have dropped the second rinse with no issues. you can also add baby oxi clean to your wash.

Be sure to clean your washing machine regularly.

One thing I realized is that now that I am cloth diapering, I find myself wanting to use cloth wipes too. they seem to be much more effective and since i'm already spraying and washing diapers I might as well do the wipes too.

you'll probably want more than 12 to start off though, especially with a young baby that goes more frequently or you'll be doing diaper laundry every day.

ETA: I love this group.TCDC

they debunk a lot of myths and have great advice for washing and troubleshooting.
