Bug repellent and bug bites?
My poor dd is a magnet for Mosquitos. Yesterday she got 5 bites two of which are on her face. I put baby ganics bug spray on her but obviously it didn't help. These bites turned into huge welts. She is supposed to have her 2 year old bday pictures tomorrow. I put cortisone on them for the itch. What can I do for the swelling and redness besides ice. What bug repellents actually work?

I would try giving her Benadryl; it should help with the swelling.
I use the All Terrain Kids Herbal Armor bug spray on DS, it's deet free and seems to work well.

Benadryl/claritian/zyrtec should work for both the itching and swelling. I'm no help with sprays, I use off kids which has 4% deet.

I second any antihistaimine. I also give tylenol since AJ tears herself up. cortiozone is used too but i avoid her face, I'm always afraid she'll get it in her eyes.
AJ gets HUGE HUGE bites. I posted before. I have learned things about those little monsters.
Mosquitos are attracted to a few things. Each person is different. Only the females bite (blood feed) and they are attracted to a few key factors. Movement, carbon monoxide and the natural scents of some humans. That's why the bug spray works for one, won't work for another. Why some times one family member seems immune and another is a eaten alive. Why it can change day to day regardless of what's used.
I use California Baby for AJ. I put it on her clothes. I also use the Avon Sensitive and Off. I make sure she wears long pants and tucked her pants into her socks when she was younger. Yeah in Texas with our heat.... Good thing is it's dry heat so in the shade, its really not too too bad but still...
I bought sample size bug stuff left and right, some stuff works and some stuff doesn't. The stuff one swears by the other says is useless. You just got to find what works.
Treatment and avoidance is your only certain plans.
Good Luck!
