BTDT vaginal birth
Warning...TMI. I am one week postpartum and still not feeling so great. Had an episiotomy so there is that but even worse...I feel like I have the worst yeast infection of all time. My doctor says I shouldn't be feeling that way and may have an infection but the script he gave me isnt helping. When I google it seems fairly common to have the symptoms postpartum. Any info is appreciated...Im going crazy over here!

Re: BTDT vaginal birth
i didnt have any of those problems after delivering my son but i'm currently having the YI at 9.5 weeks. I ate yogurt and it relieved it a little bit. You probably cannot use anything down there, maybe your doc can prescribe Diflucan (its one pill).

Re: BTDT vaginal birth
I had an episiotomy that did not heal right. I did not have a yeast infection, however, I was still in pain after 8 weeks PP and the spot still bled when I wiped it. I went back to my OB and he said that I had to keep putting peroxide on it, if it didn't heal, I would have had to have it cauterized. Thankfully it healed on its own.

I would definitely go back to your obgyn and get checked. I had a vaginal birth (minimal tearing) and I felt fine after.

Re: BTDT vaginal birth
I had an episiotomy as well. I did not have a yeast infection. My pain was more physical. I was in so much pain walking, they even offered me a walker at the hospital. I would say it took a good 4 months til I felt back to normal. My doctor said it was normal though because my pubic bone was stretched out and just had to heal. I took advil for the pain.

Re: BTDT vaginal birth
I thought I had a UTI for like 2 months after birth (had episiotomy and vaginal birth). I was just so uncomfortable down there. My episiotomy site would also bleed on and off FOR EVER. They cauterized it but I still had issues. Anyway it's finally is back to normal after like a year haha. I think breastfeeding hormones played a big role in my issues as well as it can make tissue slower to heal down there d/t lack of estrogen while BFing. Hang in there, not everyone heals up as fast as some do. Feel free to message me if you have other qusetions.

BTDT vaginal birth
I had an infection after having DD. I really can't be sure when it started. After my 6 week appt everything looked good but then I was still having discharge for a while and finally got checked out. They sent out a culture and it turned out to just be a bad flare up of group b strep. It did take two different antibiotics before it finally cleared up. I would definitely call the ob back if the antibiotics didn't help and have them prescribe something else and maybe do a culture.

BTDT vaginal birth
I was in extreme pain after I had a huge episiotomy with DD. at my six week visit I found out I had a lot of granulation tissue at the episiotomy site. They were going to cauterize it but luckily it went away. Id call the doctor. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! This is one of the things I was concerned abt. I tested positive for GbS and was teeated during labor. I thought GBS didnt have any symptoms but looking online it seems it can cause itching and mirror a yeast infection. Im concerned be ause this cn be lassed to baby after birth just by handling (I keep clean of course but you never know) . Did you have symptoms other than the discharge during your flare up? Thanks again...paranoid new mother here.

I don't think I'd be too worried about the baby at this point. I probably had it for a long time before it was finally caught and cleared up bc I thought it was normal discharge. I just started wondering if it was ever going to stop! I definitely don't think I had any other symptoms.

could the sutures be bothering you? when things heal, they do tend to itch!

Me as well. Back to normal in a week. You probably have an infection in the episiomity site. I'd go back ASAP

Re: BTDT vaginal birth
I had problems twice after birth. Instead of getting better, these two times (both 4th degree tears), it was getting MORE painful.
The first time, I had a hematoma which needed to be "popped" and the 2nd time I ended up with an infection where I was stitched.
Definitely go in, if your gut is telling you something isnt right, it probably isnt.
Good luck! youll be back to your old self soon!
