BTDT: Spray Tan

I will be getting a spray tan for DS christening and i was wondering if there is anything i need to know... what should i do/ shouldn't do b/4 i go, what should i do/ shouldn't do after i get it done?

Anywho, I like to shower right before going. I exfoliate and don't put on any lotion or make-up or anything. I wear loosely fitted clothes and this itty bitty little string of a thong. I go topless, but you can cover up as much or as little as you want. But leave your modesty at the door because someone will be in there spraying you. I go to the same Beach Bum everytime so the girl knows me and we chat while she sprays- she's seen about as much of me as my bff so it helps that she's friendly and talkative. The whole process takes about 5-10 minutes and it's COLD. Not gonna lie, I wind up shivering everytime I go. Still worth it! Once you're sprayed, they let you airdry in front of a fan/heater thing and then you get dressed. I don't put my bra back on, usually just a sweatshirt and sweatpants. You're going to want to go home right after the spray because you will look gross! You'll look streaky and too brown but I promise it always evens itself out. After about 4 hours, you can take a lukewarm shower to rinse yourself- no soap, no scrubbing, no hot water. I usually go in the evening during the week, rinse myself before bed, and then take a full shower in the morning. Since you've rinsed, it won't come off on your sheets or pillow or anything.

To keep the tan up, moisturize moisturize moisturize! I was amazed how much longer my tan lasted when I moisturized often. I think the tan looks the best 2 days after you get it done, so I try to go 2 days before an event. But for Beach Bum, some locations only have the sprayed there on certain days so you might have to work around their schedule. HTH!

Really dumb question because I am thinking about doing this for an upcoming wedding I am in. Are there places that do it with a machine? Like no person in the room with you? I am INSANELY self conscious about my fatness and can't imagine standing there practically naked.

I go into the booth at Beach Bum and get the best results. No one sees me.... just me and sprayers!

This is the procedure I follow...
-shower... no lotion, makeup, etc.
-get dressed and go to beach bum
-choose the light spray tan (gets me 2-3 shades darker)
-go into the booth - takes 2 minutes ... the people will tell you what to do in the stand up booth. Basically you put special lotion on your feet, ankles, hands, and wrists and then go into the booth and press start. You wll rotate in a circle... it gets every freakin spot... and comes out so even.
-it is clear when it goes on
-after i pat down with a towel and get dressed normally
-then you have to keep it on for 8 hours before you can get wet and shower. so i do it at night ... go to sleep ... it never comes off on my sheets or clothes.
-when i wake up i shower normally just dont scrub too hard so the tan lasts.
