BTDT Preemie Moms...
When did you really start taking your preemie babies out & about? Lilly was born @ 32 weeks 3 days (4lbs 5ozs, no real problems other than being early). She is now 9 weeks. I have kept her inside & away from children & public places. We go in the backyard & on walks w/ her big sister. I have taken her into the store just to pick up a thing or two. The ped. today made it sound like I need to continue keeping her away from everyone/everything indefinitely. I am going pretty stir crazy, but will do whatever is best for her. She will be getting the RSV vaccine in the Fall & started her regular vaccines today. I am a very active person & always going places/doing things, especially with a 3 year old that now is homebound w/ me... guess I just want to hear what other Moms have done in this situation. TIA.

Re: BTDT Preemie Moms...
I had a baby similar in size to yours, DD was 5 pounds at 34 weeks. I think I stayed away for 8 weeks. She was born 8/14. By the time she was 4 months we were in a new mom's group and Little Gym. In between that time, I think I tried to keep her covered in stores but still took her out and about though.

Re: BTDT Preemie Moms...
I am thinking that maybe you can take her out a bit now before the RSV season officially starts but then as the winter illnesses move in, start to keep her home again. This way, you can cure the cabin fever a little bit now. I had a 36 week baby who had low birth weight due to a pregnancy complication. I was very protective of him for a very long time. He was not eligible for RSV shots through insurance and he was born during RSV season. I don't regret being protective. He is quite healthy now but my doctors would like us to take a few minor extra precautions until he is 3.
