BTDT Moms regarding crib sheets
Please help!!
I bought the ultimate crib sheet and breathable bumpers......not a good idea. They just do not work together. I like the idea of the breathable bumpers so I want to find a sheet that could act as a waterproof quick change. I know some girls have used the zip sheet (with the zipper) but it is not waterproof.
A different "zip sheet" that I found on-line is waterproof but uses a velcro system.
BTDT moms, would you use this?
TIA!

Re: BTDT Moms regarding crib sheets
Oh, I just figured this out for myself and am going to BRU today to get more...
I have a mattress cover on the mattress and use regular crib sheets. And what I find I like best (of the few options I've tried) is the simple waterproof pads by Gerber (I think) [ETA: They are by Carters!]. It's a kind of thick flannel "pad" that's waterproof. The one I have has froggies and duckies on it. Sure it does not go with the bedding but it saves the sheet from needing frequent changing. I needed something that would fit DS from head to toe for spit ups or poops up the back!
ETA: just watched the video... cool... but no, me, I would not buy that. I still like the pads as mentioned above. They do not move while he sleeps.

Thanks for your responce and suggestion!!
Quick question: Why would you not use that "zip sheet" system?
The pads that you are talking about, do they have to be tied to the rails?
TIA

I use these too. I can't use them as much now b/c DS moves around so much but they were great when he was little. I have less mess to worry about now though!

I use a waterproof mattress pad, the flannel thing, a sheet and then another pad that ties to the rail, in that order.

the only thing about ties to the rail is the use of the breathable bumper is compromised. I love the concept of the breathable bumper but i also love the concept of an easy quick fix in the middle of the night

Re: BTDT Moms regarding crib sheets
we just have a waterproof mattress and sheets... i have actually only had to change the sheets in the middle of the night maybe twice and ds has been in the crib for 14 months... i have several mattress pads and imo if yo uare changing the sheets then you can just do the pad at the same time

I still used the breathable bumper. Hmmmm. Maybe skip the top pad that ties on?
Keep it simple, just use the waterproof mattress pad and a sheet and keep a couple of each on hand for the quick change. Then, you can still use the breathable bumpers. I think I'll do this with DS.

Yep i got this gerber thingies. I called them wetpads. I got one for me before AJ was born (not a fitted one) to put under my sheet in case my water broke at night. Someone bought us three more so we use them as quick and easy change areas for AJ. That said, I also got one of the fitted versions that sit on the mattress itself, below the crib sheet. I LOVED THESE THINGS. So many times she'd leak or sprout a fountain when changing her and so what.. i washed the sheet and the 'wetpad' the mattress was dry.
Oh and we ALWAYS changed her in the crib. We never used our change pad thingy. *Shrug*

Yes I did this and still do. The mattress has that waterproof pad underneath her crib sheet and we have a few of the waterproof pads around for quick changes ... makes everywhere a change area!

I'm just not a "system" or gimmicky kind of person. And with that thing, the bottom part is only the one color... I like my sheet variety peeking through the crib rails. It does seem cool though. I did not even look at the price. ETA: Just thinking too... I know the video makes it look all nice and easy to velcro off and on but when I have loads of laudry backed up and a sleeping baby in my arms and I never got to change the sheet that got pooped on, there ain't no velcro'in happenin'! I can grab one of my pads out of the drawer, take the dirty one off and put a clean one on with DS sleeping in my arms!
The pads I was talking about were actually made by Carters. Bought two more today.... Carter's Keep Me Dry Flannel Bassinet Pads There is a "lap pad" size that is very small so make sure you get the Bassinet size by the bassinet mattresses.
It's a little stiff and creased out of the package but they wash great, are soft and thick enough to stay flat. DS totally does a 180* in his sleep and it stays in place.
