BTDT moms or anyone that knows anything about transverse/breech babies
Yesterday at my 30 week growth sono I was told the baby was transverse (sideways) and that if she doesnt turn I'll need a c-section . Just curious what the odds are that the baby willl turn head down and when does the dr usually make a final decision? Will he let me go the full 40 weeks before deciding to do a c-section or will he want to do it sooner? If you cant tell, the last thing i want is a c-seciton!

my friends son was transverse and she was given the option to manually turn him by the doctor which she tried. It's horribly painful and it didnt end up working for her
You can also start seeing a chiropractor, I was seeing one when I was preggo with #1 and it def. helped to get her into position.
I def. think you should call the dr. and see what they are thinking about.

Re: BTDT moms or anyone that knows anything about transverse/breech babies
The baby still has some time to turn. My son was a footling breech baby. He was one foot down, tush down, head and other foot up. My daughter was a transverse breech baby. I had two c/s. You can ask about having a version (turning the baby) but I opted against it as for a first time mom, after a lot of research I came to the conclusion it likely would not work/stick and my sons positioning would have made it extremely risky to impossible.
My water broke for DS, he was still breech and I ended up with an emergency c/s. While I was thrilled to have a birth experience 10 cm/ fully effaced, and knowing that he was ready to come out, the recovery was very hard. I had a much easier time with DD and her scheduled repeat c/s. I cried when my obgyn told me I needed a c/s but my fears were 1 million times worse than reality.
If your DC does not turn, remember these key points. 1. Go to the bathroom before having the c/s. 2. Move and get out of bed as soon as they tell you too. 3. Take the pain med on schedule while in the hospital. 4. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Take any and all help that is offered.
Lastly, a healthy mom and a healthy baby are the number 1 things and if a c/s is the way to get the baby out the safest, it will be ok. Good luck!!!

Your baby has a lot of time to turn still. If you want to get things started, you could go to a chiropractor certified in the Webster technique. My DD was footling breech and after a few visits she turned.
Also, ask your doctor if they will do a version. Since your baby is tranverse there is a very high chance that the version will work.

My LO was breech for the entire pregnancy and finally turned for my 34 week appointment. You still have time for your LO to turn. They say that whatever position they are in at 36 weeks will pretty much be it.. but of course, it depends on the baby. If your baby is still transverse/breech later in the game, they will try to manually turn him/her or just go for the c-section. They will most likely wait until your due date but it depends on your doctor.

Re: BTDT moms or anyone that knows anything about transverse/breech babies
I am at 36 weeks and my footling.frank breech is trying his hardest to flip and killing me in the process... It definitely doesnt feel so good but the poor kid is working so hard at it.. I see his head pop all out and try to flip but my doc seems to think its too small in there and hes too big so it prob wont happen. i am trying all the "old wives" tales to help him along cuz I have friends that went until 2 days before labor with a breech who then managed to flip..there is hope. Next week my doc will check him again and if he hasnt flipped...we are going to schedule a t c for anytime after 11/18 (due 11/25) Then we wait and if he flips before the c date...we cancel and go natural.

Check out spinningbabies.com. It has demonstrations on how to turn the baby using different positions.
