BTDT FTWM: I have an irrational question.
Does your baby forget who you are when you go back to work?
I don't know why I am getting this terrible feeling that my 6 week maternity leave won't be enough and the baby will forget who I am and only stop crying or only laugh with my sister (who will watch the baby 3 days a week) or my mother in law (who will watch the baby 2 days a week). I work 8:30-5 and will be away from the baby from 8-5:30 or so. I'm just so upset that I have to go back to work, now I'm thinking all these irrational thoughts. I just love how babies light up when their mommy walks into the room, and I'm scared my baby won't do that.

Re: BTDT FTWM: I have an irrational question.
Babies always know who mommy is but when ds started daycare at 12 weeks there was no lighting up when I picked him up. At the same time, there were no tears from him when he was dropped off either. It wasn't until he was older that he would smile just because I walked in the room to get him. It isn't easy.

Re: BTDT FTWM: I have an irrational question.
I was JUST talking to my mom about this yesterday.
Technically, DD should think that grandma is her mom - she sees her every single day from wake up until 4PM when I get home.
BUT, when I get home, she gives me a big smile and JUMPS into my arms. If my mom pretends to take her back, she will snuggle into me and won't go to her!
This all started recently, when I first went back at 3 months, she didnt care who had her as long as SOMEONE was holding her but now at 7 months I can honestly say she KNOWS her mama!

Not at all. I work 50+ hours a week and everyday I come home my daughter knows who I am. I went back to work real early so she's used to my hours. Your dc will never forget who you are

I am not a FTWM but I can guarantee you that your baby will know you and know that you are her mommy. My heart breaks to hear a mama worried about this and I just wanted to reassure you!

Re: BTDT FTWM: I have an irrational question.
My DD is almost 8 months and I work full time. When I get home she gets so excited. I had the same fear you did that she would think my mom or nanny was her mommy but she definitely is different when I am home.
Just know your baby will know who her mommy is!!!

With DS I went back to work and I had the same fear but he knew exactly who I was!
