BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
I received a beaba for my shower and am now thinking about returning it. I have both a blender and food processor that I maybe used three times in the past 2 years ..... Can I just make LO's baby food with those or is it worth it to have a baby food maker?

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
i dont think you need a baby food maker its just something else to take up space in the kitchen since you already have the food processor and blender which you can make baby food with...years ago, there was no such thing as a baby food maker so IMO its not a necessary baby item. if i were you, id return it and get something else you would use more often.

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
My DD has only been on solids for a month now but I've been doing everything in the blender and it has came out great. So far I've made her peaches, pears and sweet potatoes. I've baked them in the oven (I read that baking reserves more nutrients then cooking stovetop or in the microwave) and then puree them in the blender, thinning with the juices from baking.
She loves them. She hated the jarred foods when I first bought them, and so I switched to homemade and she gobbles it up!

I use the Ninja. I had one from before and it works great. I also have used my magic bullet.

I use my food processor. Works great! I received a Baby Bullet when I was preggo, but returned it. I HATE clutter! Why have that collecting dust when I have a beautiful, hardly used food processor/blender combo! :)

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
I received the baby bullet at my baby shower and used it to make DS's food. Now that he is 100% on table food, I look back and realize I did not need that at all. If we have another child, I will use our regular food processer.

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
I have the Beaba. I got it as a hand-me-down. Having used it, I'm glad I didn't spend the money on one. I used it a lot for about 6 weeks. After that (when DD was about 8 months old) she was eating 4-6 oz. of food and the Beaba makes such small batches at a time. I had to do 3 cycles of steam/chop/clean just to get sweet potatoes for her for the week, which she was eating fruits, meats, and other veggies too. It's convenient because it takes up so much less counter space than a steamer and a blender, and it's easy to clean. But you won't need it for more than 2 or 3 months at the most, because the baby will outgrow it.

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
IMO, no, you don't need it. I steamed or baked everything, then tossed it into my blender or food processor. FWIW, my DD only ate purees for about 3 months (5 months to 8ish). A baby food maker would've collected dust after that. Return it and use the store credit for something you'll really need - like diapers!!

I made all of Dds food and didn't want a beaba. We have a small kitchen and I didn't want to have another appliance. I alternated bw the food processor and the blender and it was perfect. No need for a beaba IMO.

Technically, you don't need a baby food maker. I used to bake or steam food on the stove and then used my food processor or immersion blender. The only extra things I purchased were ice cube trays to freeze the food and a steamer insert for my pot. Far cheaper than a baby food maker and works just as well!

You don't "need" it but, the Beaba makes making babyfood SOOOO easy! My dh was even doing it because it was like a gadget. You literally only need to clean the beaba and maybe your counter. It was worth it for me.

I made all of DD's food and it was pointless. I only used the Beaba for the first month max. It's easier and makes way more if you use a food processor. I'd return it.

You don't need it if you have a blender or food processor.

Nope, made all DD's babyfood with a $14 immersion blender I bought on Amazon... now use it to make smoothies and pina coladas for DH&I

Re: BTDT Do I really need a baby food maker??
no, you can easily do it with what you have. plus, you only feed baby food for a few months. put the money for that gift towards thing you need! i feel like this is one of those "mommy gadgets" that the baby stores make people feel it will make your life easier in a way that no other product can, so you feel you have to have it. there are a few good products that serve that purpose but I don't think this is one of them.

I also received a Beaba at my shower. I hadn't registered for it so at first I thought about returning it. I'm so glad that I kept it - it really made making purees super easy. It was great to be able to steam everything in the machine and then just dump it in to blend.

You definitely don't need a baby food maker. We used a food mill and food processor to puree fruits and vegetables.
