BTDT - visitors after delivery

How soon after you delivered were people allowed to visit you? Is it several hours? I know the baby is taken for a few hours anyway.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

Depends on the kind of birth you have. I'd guess and say anywhere from right after to the next day.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

I'm pretty sure we were allowed visitors right away but started to call people to come once I got into my room.

For me, it was when the room and myself were cleaned up (and after i ate, that was my first priority Chat Icon)

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

I had a c/s and complications afterward (me, not the baby) so even though she was born at 11 am I didn't see her until 5 or 6 pm so I had no visitors until later that night. That was also without me calling anyone. They just showed up.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

My parents were in my room within 30 minutes of delivery. I called them (they were in the waiting room) sobbing bc there was something wrong with the baby. They ran right up and I appreciated their comfort. My husband was too nervous/confused to take that role. Everything turned out fine with my little guy, he just had a delayed transition.

As soon as I was moved to a post-partum room, I showered and had visitors within a couple hours.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

About an hour after I delivered, my aunt, grandma, MIL, and SIL came to see me and DS. I was still in the delivery room and was doing skin to skin. The nurses welcomed everyone in, but they were cheering and being really loud, so the nurses asked them to quiet down Chat Icon .

I delivered at 10pm, so aside from them, I got visitors the next afternoon.

ETA: since I delivered my DS at night, he was taken at around midnight to get a bath and do whatever else they do. The next evening, he was taken at 1am to get a newborn assessment.

My parents and DH's parents along with sisters came in the delievery room about 10 mins after DS's birth. They all kissed him and went home. They were in the hospital for the entire day. I had visitors the next morning.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

I had an emergency csec and dd was born at 5:39 am. I had dd with me in the recovery room for over and hour. My ob took dd out to the waiting room for my family to see. Than they took dd to the nursery until 12:00 pm. All my family came up and got to hold dd at the 2:00 pm visiting hour.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

Our parents were in the waiting room overnight (the dr estimated DS would be born by midnight and he wasn't born until 8:45am via csection). They were able to see us as soon as I was wheeled into recovery so I would say it was about an hour after he was born.

Re: BTDT - visitors after delivery

It depends.
My SIL had vaginal delivery & we were able to be in the room with her w/i 30 min of her delivering her DD.

I had a scheduled c/s and ppl were waiting to see me. I was in recovery and then sitting idle waiting for a room to be available. DS was born at 2:34pm and I didn't get to my room until around 7pm.
