We're using Viacord. I forgot the cost but i thought it was cheaper than the others we looked at and they were around the longest so we went with them. It tells you on the website how much it is. We are paying like 68 a month or something. I am due in August and our first payment isnt due until November. We are going to pay it off with our tax refund. I definitely would make a decision soon. We decided 2 weeks ago and they had to rush the package out to us

Re: BTDT - cord blood banking
We used CBR and I was thrilled with how smoothly the process went. The rep I spoke to was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions (i had at least 16 jotted down). Also, I was induced suddenly and hadn't even officially signed up yet and I literally called the rep from the LIRR as I was on my from Manhattan to the hospital and he made everything super easy. It was wonderful that on a crazy, unpredictable day there was at least one thing, the cord blood banking, that i didn't have to worry about. They made sure there was a kit for me at the hospital for my delivery and my DH was able to call after we settled in at the hospital to finish giving CBR our info. I can't help with price bc I got a medical discount.
Also, my CBR rep called me the following week to tell me what the count was (more than enough for banking). It's only like $125 a year for storage.

Re: BTDT - cord blood banking
We used Americord... Did the payment plan- its $199 a month for a year & that INCLUDES storage also!!!!!! Ey were very helpful on the phone when we were deciding/signing up & they were quick & "easy" after DD was born. No complaints here! I highly recommend them. (my ped said companies like Americord & lifeline cryogenics are cheaper than viacord & CBR bc they aren't publicly traded & highly advertised as those "bigger"/more well known companies. Good luck with your decision!

Re: BTDT - cord blood banking
I banked with Viacord for both of my children (in '09 & this past April). We're paying $1,750 this time around (they had a $500 off promotion when I signed up) over the course of 6 months (it includes the 1st year's storage fees. After that it will be $125 per year for storage ($250 total for the 2 kids). I've been VERY happy with Viacord both times around...they've been very helpful & pickup at the hospital was very easy both times.

CBR I found the rep to be quite knowledgable and gave me imfo I didnt even know to ask. He was able to tell me how many collections were done at the hosp I was felivering. He was helpful and not overtly pushy. I got a call a week layer and a card in the mail from him personally congratulating my family and more info to share with friends. I called Viacord and the rep I spoke with providid no info beyond price. Had no personality and after I askef the price asked me if that was it. Again I felt the rep was inexperienced or not knowledgable and just not a good salesman. I would recomend CBR. They have been around a very long time, they are 1 of the top companies and they collect 20% more than amy other company including Viacord.
