Re: brushing up on my french bc...
Oooooh you're going to have such a great time!!!!
We went to Paris at the end of our honeymoon for four days last summer and the most fun we had was actually on a Segway tour of the city! DH always wanted to ride one and it was a total blast!!! The tour guide spoke English (good for DH) and it was supposed to be a group tour, but somehow we were the only two signed up for that day and it became a private tour! We covered a ridiculous amount of ground very quickly, and it was funny because some places we went, people took pictures of us riding the segways!! The tour guide took us all over the place, including a few Arondissments we otherwise would not have been to that were more trendy and less touristy areas. We toured through several parks and went to the national archives as well (which is pretty amazing architecture).
It was $75 pp (US dollars) and worth every penny for the 3 hours or so. You start at Notre Dame and end over there, so it's very convenient as well. I'd be happy to FM you Thierry's email address and info if it's something you'd be intersted in!

Re: brushing up on my french bc...
So crazy, dh and i are planning to do Paris & Amsterdam next March! We did London & Amsterdam last year and had such an amazing time. Amsterdam is such a great place! FM if you have any questions!
ETA: if you want to see the Anne Frank house, definitely get tickets online before you go. The line goes around the block if you wait to buy them there! We did a candelight canal crusie, with wine and cheese. It was so nice, I highly recommend that. Next time I think we're gonna do one of the dinner canal cruises. We also did a Red Light District walking tour at night. That was really fun and informative lol

Re: brushing up on my french bc...
you'll have a great time - Paris is my favorite city!
a bike/segway/canal tour is a great way to start and see cities and then you can go back to visit things that interest you.
I took a walking tour of English writers by the Sorbonne and it was fantastic! and I think the Picasso museum is one of the best museums I've ever been.
You can't pass up a crepe by the Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomph, Champs Elyse The Pere Lachaise Cemetery is where Jim Morrison is buried, but also Oscar Wilde, Abelard and Heloise, Balzac, Chopin, Proust, Colette...the Patheon is also great for dead people. Notre Dame, St Chapelle, the Lourve. Too many things to do it one visit! A side trip to Versailles is worth it too!
Amsterdam - Anne Frank house, pancakes, red light district (there is a great buddhist temple here), Heinken is ok, but I preferred the Maximiliaan Brewery. The Waterloo flea market is cool and you should find a flower market as well.
