Bronx Zoo?
Is there a weekday that is better to go? Are there certain sections or shows that are good for a 2 year old?
I haven't been in years

Re: Bronx Zoo?
Not Wednesday: "free day" & too crowded. Best things for that age are carousel, butterfly garden, Congo & children zoo.

Re: Bronx Zoo?
If you are on Long Island - you may want to check out the Queens zoo. The Bronx zoo is awesome - but we find Queens to be much more manageable for our 2 year old. It's much smaller but the animals are up close and they have a section with farm animals. When we go to the Bronx zoo - we usually hit up one or two sections - not the whole zoo. The sea lions are usually a big hit and the monkeys. Have fun!

Bronx Zoo?
Mondays are usually a good day to go- like A pp stated stay far away from the zoo on Wednesdays- I went last Wednesday (not remembering it was free because I have an annual pass) and it was a nightmare--I have never been to the zoo when it was that busy- the staff was cranky and short with guests. If you buy your tickets online you get a 10% discount.

Bronx Zoo?
We just went yesterday (Monday) and it wasn't too bad as far as crowds. My DD is 22 months and enjoyed the children's zoo.

I agree about the Queens Zoo for that age

Totally agree about the Queens Zoo. We love it. Much cheaper and no need to cross a bridge. There are also 4-5 kiddie rides right outside the entrance.
DS is 5 and there is still plenty for him there.

Re: Bronx Zoo?
We went last Thursday and it was a good day to go. It will probably be crowded all summer but not as bad as a Wednesday which I would avoid.
My 2 yo liked the Asia section because they had this animal puppet show about recycling, I had to sit through it twice lol. Most kids seemed to love the Asia monorail, which is my favorite part, but I wish I'd done that earlier because she was tired and cranky by that point. The bears were pretty fun to see because they were playing and splashing around in the water. We packed a lot in but had a really fun day!
ETA: There's also a Children's Zoo where there are more barnyard animals and the kids can pet them and feed them food pellets. She loved that too.

I would've never thought of the Queens Zoo - thanks. I have never been to either the Queens or Bronx zoos.

Bronx Zoo?
Ive been to the Bronx zoo twice (once in May and once in June). Def avoid Wednesday's. The rest of the days (even weekends) are doable. I parked on the street both time to save a little money. The first time we attempted to see it all (I blame Dh for that)...it was way too much; we were exhausted, hot and cranky. The second trip we stayed at the new kids zoo and the carousel and had an amazing time!
Eta - my son is 13 months old and my daughter is almost 2.5 yo
