Broken TV spinoff
Do newer tvs break more easily? I have some very old TVs.
Is the Best Buy extended warranty worth buying? I don't usually buy warranties, but I think my credit card extends them a little.

I don't know, but I feel like no appliances last like they used to. Bought a new washing machine a few months ago and doing research it seems like the life expectancy is much shorter than it used to be. Bought the warranty for that (forgot to look into the CC warranty!)
Right now looking into buying a new TV and I will check the CC info first, but will probably make sure to purchase an extended warranty if the CC doesn't have one

Re: Broken TV spinoff
They sure don't build things like they used to
Everything is mass produced quickly and cheaply.
And yes, we always get the Best Buy extended warranty

Re: Broken TV spinoff
So I have a TV from Best Buy and got the warranty. About a year before it expired there was a crack through the top of the screen. So I called it in. They said take it to a shop. So I did. Find out the connection the back was also faulty so it was two parts. The screen and the back. Well the screen had to be replaced. That's not just an overnight thing. I had to get approval blah blah
It took MONTHS
We are a one TV household. I asked what gives and about a replacement or loaner they said no. So I bought and returned a TV every 25 days for 4 months.
The store knew exactly what I was doing. I lived within the rules of our agreement.
I got a brand new TV with an old housing. Still own to this day. It's actually in my daughter's room since I can see no reason to get rid of it. But it's rarely used and we are still primarily a One TV Household.
I can tell you when I got the TV haha 2004. I just moved into my apt when our old TV died. So 13yrs and still running .. not bad.

I remember Best Buy used to give brand new product replacements under their extended warranty. They had a convincing sales pitch. Then they stopped doing that, and started repairing or giving refurbished products. But, from the other thread, it sounds like they give brand new replacements again.
My TV from 2001 works perfectly, and so does DH's that is much older : ) It just annoys me when movies don't fill the screen.
