If anyone knows I'd love to hear too because you are right- it's absolute insanity.
Hence why DD has not been to a Broadway show yet.

Unfortunately The Lion King rarely has any discounts. The only way to save some $$ is going directly to the box office that way you save handling fees.

Re: Broadway tickets

Plumb Benefits has great deals most of the time. So if you know someone that has it we have had great seats and not bad pricing using them.

Re: Broadway tickets

Disney shows typically don't offer discounts unless the show will be closing...additionally, Christmas week is a tough one - not many shows, Disney or otherwise, offer discounts then. Its peak time.

For shows other than the most popular ones/Disney, you're better off going at a different time (after the holidays), waiting to see what's offered during the Kids Night on Broadway sale, and checking sites like Broadway Box/Theatermania for discount codes.

Disney though...well like all things Disney, you gotta suck it up and pay lol

You can also join tdf.org if you work in certain industries for deep discounts on certain shows and times. Go on the site and see if you qualify.

My DD's 12th bday is actually today. She wanted tickets to a show and gave me a list of several, but I know she would go absolutely f'ing insane if we were able to get Hamilton. As I'm sure you know, tickets are $$$$$$$$$$$!!! However, I looked on StubHub and Seat Geek for "day of" prices, and they're only like $$$$ if we buy them the day of Chat Icon

So anyway, that's the plan. I'll give her a picture of the playbill for her card and she can pick two or three dates and we'll buy them that day.

It happens in the winter, after the holidays.

Another poster mentioned TDF and they're awesome, but for Lion King specifically- they don't offer discounts. They are wonderful if you want to see a show in previews.

Broadway week is going on now. I got tickets to take my kids see School of Rock for next week. They also have Broadway Week in February. The tickets are buy 50% off. Not excellent seats but they are cheaper.

KNOB tix usually go on sale in early October. I've had luck the past two years in getting tickets to The Lion King last year and Alladin the prior year. In both instances, I gave those tickets to my daughter as a Christmas present which may work for you as well with your DD's birthday.

We have the Disney Visa and got great tickets for previews when Aladdin came out very cheap. I know that doesn't help with their current shows (and I haven't gotten anything like that for Frozen), but it's worth looking into if anyone has their credit card.

Yes - definitely stalk the KNOB site for updates. So far, nothing has been announced to the public.

Pumpkin - that's some luck scoring those shows! I'm going to put you in charge of my next PJ concert ticket purchase Chat Icon

They're on the site but they aren't actually substantial discounts in some cases (by that I mean hit shows)

As in, they might offer a $170 ticket for $155. But then there's still the service charge on the ticket of, say, $10, and you don't get to pick your seats. Of course the seats will be decent, but for a ~$5 discount per ticket, it's not really a desirable route for some shows.

To another poster - it's a benefit that is offered at some places of employment.

The cheapest I have ever seen them were $99 on tickets at work. I wanted to get them for my DD cause she asked me to go.

I ended up not buying them because my friend scored free tickets for the show Chat Icon
