Broadway Show

I'm taking a guy friend to a show in December, he's never been to NYC before. I would love to see Book of Mormon but the prices are insane. So far we are looking at Jersey Boys or Les Miserables. Any other good ones out there that really give that "Broadway" experience? I'm thinking more of Les Mis since the sets and costumes would be amazing and I've always wanted to see it. Also, anyone know of any way to get cheaper seats to Book of Mormon? Probably not, but figured I'd ask lol

Did you try Stub Hub or broadwaybox.com?

I tried some of the discount sites and the cheapest for BOM, for the worst seats in the house are still about $200/ticket

I think I'm leaning towards Les Miz...just watched the video preview and it looks awesome...if anyone has gone since it reopened in March, is there a certain section you would recommend as far as seating?

Re: Broadway Show

Les Mis is the best show I have ever seen.
I have seen it twice and want to go again
Definitely that

I tried to find discounted Book of Mormon tix last year and they don't exist.
When the show sells out every show they don't need to discount them
I'll wait a few years. Chat Icon

LOL...I said that last night, maybe in a few years we'll see BOM

ok, I'm excited for Les Mis now and they have some good discounted seats! YAY!
Do you think 3rd row front mezzanine is better than 13th row center orchestra?

I think I'd go with orchestra, but that's just me. It's still closer IMO

There are never discounts for Book of Mormon. Have fun at Les Mis! I too would go with 13th row Orch vs 3rd row Mezz for that theatre.

Re: Broadway Show

Les Mis without question.

Give him a BRIEF overview understanding before -- just a background story bc otherwise he might be a little confused at first. If he has just a background knowledge then he will get things as they go a lot easier.

Men like it bc it's war - French Revolution :)

Yes I always tell people to read the playbill first. They have a brief, cliff notes like synopsis in there of the plot

Chat Icon That's exactly what I was thinking. My husband actually read the 1,500 page book.

My husband doesn't like History so he wasn't in to Les Mis at all. He did Enjoy Wicked , he was already familiar with the characters.
You could also go see the Rockettes in December and you can get cheap tickets for that. I have gotten like $25 tickets before to see that.

I am not a fan of history AT ALL- but I just loved it.
The plotline was so much more than just the telling of the french revolution.

And the music. It was just incredible

Broadway Show

Les Mis was great and should be in everyones Broadway repetoir as should Phantom of the Opera. Jersey Boys however is soooo fun and the music was upbeat and familiar. I think the decision should be on what type of mood in the play are you looking for that night. Les Mis is very heavy and dramatic. Jersey Boys is light and fun. Wicked and the Lion King are just AMAZING also and visually stunning. You will be surrounded by kids though as long as your ok with that. I love Broadway!!

I know, its such a hard decision!! At first I thought Les Mis might be too heavy and that's why I was thinking Jersey Boys...but I think for his first Broadway experience Les Mis is more the way to go...I'm gonna show him the preview video tonight and hopefully he'll be into it!
