Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
Which one and why?
The only thing that I can see as a difference (and I'm sure I could be missing something major), is the weight limit. The roundabout has a limit of 40lbs and the marathon has a limit of 65 lbs.
Please help. And I though registering was going to be fun

LOL. Sorry to bumbard (sp?) the parenting board with all my questions. I feel that the BTDT moms can give me some practical advice...as some of the others on the pregnancy board are in the same boat as me....CLUELESS because we have never done this before

What I did find is that I think www.onestepahead.com has the Roundabout cheaper if you include a coupon code from www.naughtycodes.com

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
I haven't gotten mine yet (she's still in the Snugride at 8 mos.), but the Roundabout was on my registry and that's the one I plan to buy...pretty soon.
I heard the Roundabout works better if you have a small car and I drive a Corolla. Plus, I intend to put her in the booster seat by the time she's 40 lbs. I don't want a larger carseat.

My SIL said you can't use a booster seat until they are 4...and what if they are over 40 lbs. by say 3 1/2...what do you do then?

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
We've been very happy with the Marathon. We had my son in the infant carrier until he got too big for it, then he went into the Marathon (rear-facing then eventually forward-facing). He's 19 months now and still loves his seat. We have a Nissan Maxima and an Explorer, the seat works well in both cars. I'm sure he'll be in this seat until he is 4 yrs old and 40 lbs. After that we'll put him in a booster seat.

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
I have Marathons for both my kids and yes, the big difference is the weight limit. You'd logically think you wouldnt have a child in a carseat till they're 65 lbs. - and probably most people don't since they generally trade up to a booster. But especially when it comes to boys, dont be surprised if your child is over the 40 lb weight limit before they are 4 years old and eligible for "booster status". My son is 3 1/2 and 42 lbs. so Im really glad I have the bigger one. I have always had an SUV or minivan though so I've never had the size being an issue.

I have the marathon but have yet to use it. I have an Altima....so now I'm worried it will be too big based on these replies.

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
We bought Marathon simply becuase it was a better invesmetn than the Rounabout-it's up to 65 lbs as oppose to 40. We have Nissan Maxima and it fits very well

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
I thought I was really smart and bought two marathons on clearance when Forever Young was going out of business. Now I realize that the marathon might be too big to fit in our cars, a corolla and an escort. The seats are brand new and have the tags but I dont have the box. I am going to try and exchange them at BRU for the Roundabout.

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
We ended up getting the Britax Boulevard because it had the knobs to adjust the headrest instead of having to move the straps. My friend said that was a PITA and if they had the Boulevard when she was registering she would have gotten that one. It also has side impact protection. I'm not sure if the others do or not because I didn't research those.

Are you sure? We just put a Boulevard which I'm sure is as big as the Marathon in an Accord on our trip to NY.

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
Grrr....I appreciate all the replies ladies....but I'm as confused as ever
We have an SUV and a mustang GT. We probably would get 2 different seats (1 for each car), just so as to not have to keep switching them from one to the other. So...for the size of the marathon it would be fine in the SUV, but certainly not the mustang.

I would call Britax. Like I said we fit the Boulevard which is a large carseat in an Accord with no problems so I really don't see how the Marathon wouldn't fit.

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
I have a Roundabout and a Marathon in my Camry and they fit fine. We have no room for a passenger, though... hence, the reason we're getting an SUV (someday ).

Re: Britax Roundabout vs. Britax Marathon
I have the Marathon and bought it based on its bigger size because my son has always been big and I want him to be in it until he is able to go into a booster, which won't be for some time (he's almost 2).
In a few months, I am sure I'll be purchasing another one when my baby girl is ready for it.
I do know that my Marathon is FAA approved for the flights, I'm not sure about the Roundabout, anyone know?
