Brinkley had his first GTG with Scout and Misty!
And I had my first playdate with Gerty and Kara, too! 
It was a day of firsts. Brinkley and I had never been to Blydenburgh park in Smithtown, he had never had the time and room to play with other dogs off leash (at least not while he's been with us), I had never met Kara & Scout and Gerty & Misty...
Without further adieu, the pictures!

Rusty (my husband, and photographer) and I got there first, because I wanted to check out the area since we'd never been there. I didn't know there was a dock and I'd love to see if Brinkley would do some dock diving. He jumps off our wood deck with gusto, so you never know! Here we are checking it out:
Gerty and Misty arrived first, and Brinkley was his usual enthusiastic and rude self.  I think of misty as an elegant, classy lady and Brinkley was just all over her

This is when Kara and Scout arrived, Misty saw them first:
Once Scout joined in, the race was ON (forgive the blurry pictures, I don't think they stopped moving for 15 minutes):
Scout and Brinkley are almost the same height and we didn't get a good picture of them but they would run like they were glued to each other's sides - in perfect synch, back and forth back and forth. I was overjoyed to see it.

We went walking along the trails and although it was the first time Brinkley was off leash, he didn't do too badly with distractions and running off. He has a little to learn about responding to the "come" command but had some great role models in Misty and Scout. They are the epitome of good behavior.
It poured rain for a minute or two while we were walking but the pups found a trail down to the water and took full advantage. The camera lens was dripping wet so most of the swimming pictures didn't come out but they had a good time swimming and racing to get the tennis ball in the water. And eating mud. 
We walked back to the lot and the dogs were starting to show signs of wear. I guess two hours of running and swimming will do that!
Scout took a high perch on the picnic table with Misty but we couldn't get Brinkley up there... yet. Something to work on.

Ok so we wanted a group shot and didn't think the pups would all behave for the picture (and we were right) until one of the car alarms in the parking lot started going off! All of the dogs looked off at the car and we couldn't help but laugh at the coincidence:
Happily, the alarm didn't wake Alexandra who was snoozing in the car right next to it. She is just a gorgeous girl! Bonus, getting to meet her too. And she's a puppy lover too.
All in all a wonderful, wonderful time. Thanks again ladies, I'm so glad I finally got to meet everyone after all this time.

Yup, like Gerty, Brinkley is largely mellow today, napping a lot.
Although, I just got home from running errands and he's currently enjoying a new toy I bought him!
Juju, I can't make it there on weekdays but I have a feeling we're going to make a habit of going there. I just love the trails, and want to see if I can get Brinkley to do some dock diving!
Next time you feel like going, shoot me an FM, we'll see if we can meet up.

Scout had yesterday off, but today we were at Belmont Lake and he had a ball ...but would have much rather had puppy companions !!
