Bringing a baby to the beach?

What do you bring with you (besides the sunscreen, bottles, snacks, toys) does anyone NOT use the sun dome? If so, what do you use??

At 5 months he wasn't so mobile, so maybe he would have just sat there...But since he crawled at 7/8 months, he would never sit still, and trying to get him to not eat sand and rocks was just too hard. Since he's been running at 11 months, I really don't think I could chase after him AND try to keep everything out of his mouth.

we just did it this weekend - it was great!

we went at the end of the day - it was almost sunset. He loved every second of it! We just brought a blanket, a couple towels and a pail and shovel. He just sat with us at the water's edge and played. It was so cute, i was melting Chat Icon

Re: Bringing a baby to the beach?

Jogging stroller!!! A MUST IMO

the wheels (like bike wheels) go right on the sand and I park it next to my chair!
They can use it to eat and not get everything sandy and they can nap right there on the beach and I dont have to worry about leaving the beach for a nap! This is my 3rd summer doing this with my DD and now DS. They usually sllep better/longer anyway! I got a 2.5 hr nap from my 1.5 yr old DS just yesterday!

ALSO: Baby powder...it makes the sand come off the skin like magic! Wonderful use for it! Always have a travel one in my beach bag!

not if you have a stroller with a long enough cover! Either or is good!
