bridesmaid dress
maybe you ladies have some suggestions. i am due July 26th and will be a bridesmaid in my SIL wedding July 5th... the dresses she picked out are separates ( long skirt (green) and a top (white) any style ) i know i can order both big but i am afraid of the top not being long enough to cover my 9mth belly. any advice or suggestions?
thanks Selena

Re: bridesmaid dress
I was a BM a few weeks ago when I was 31 weeks. I ordered the dress in a larger size and also ordered extra fabric. If you do that, they can always add a band on top of the skirt so your belly doesn't show under the top. Or maybe add it to the bottom of the top. Mine was a one piece so the alterations will be different, but they added panels to the side of mine. Here is a pic....

I just had to say that you look absolutely stunning!
I hope I look half as good at 31 weeks! (I am 22 weeks at the moment!) Take care, Nicole

Re: bridesmaid dress
some styles make a maternty dress, maybe you can oreder that and if it's too "maternity for you, then you can adjust it to your taste....
Or just get extra material like the above poster said!
I was 30 weeks at a friends wedding and I ordered my dress 3 sizes larger, but it was a 1 piece dress.....

Re: bridesmaid dress
My sister was 7 months preggo at my wedding. When we went dress shopping she was not preggo. She ordered the dress 3 sizes too big anyway with the anticipation of her being pregnant by the time my wedding rolled around.
Unfortunately, the seamstress wound up having to take the whole dress apart and put it back together but it wound up looking beautiful.
Alterations cost my sister a pretty penny but she looked amazing.
She is the one of the first step -

Re: bridesmaid dress
I am no help....I am in my brother's wedding 5 weeks after I have the baby. I just ordered my dress, I was 16 weeks. I just pray that I can at least go down to the size I am now so the dress will fit....if not I will be in big trouble

Re: bridesmaid dress
two of my bridesmaids were pregnant. The dress place ordered the dresses big and then ordered extra fabric. i would definitely talk to the seamstress at the bridal salon.

Re: bridesmaid dress
I had 3 bridesmaids pregnant in my wedding party. They ordered extra fabric (of course it was easier that they had empire waisted dresses). It did cost a lot of money but they looked great. And everyone thought it was very funny.

Re: bridesmaid dress
My MOH was supposed to be late in her 7 month when we got married but her daughter made an early appearance at 25 weeks PG. We had already ordered just the material and matching ribbon for her grandmother to make her dress. And though she didn't need a maternity dress, her grandmother made her dress anyway.
