breech babies
sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do doctors know if the baby is breech or not? we had our growth scan at 31 weeks and the baby was head down....but we were told the baby can still move around. the doctor said we do not get anymore ultrasounds so how can they tell the baby's position as you get further along?

breech babies
i get sonograms every single time i go to the Dr. (every 2 weeks at this point) and that is how they are able to tell. But I was told that at the 36w mark, they stop using the machine to do internals and the Dr. would be checking my cervix manually, maybe they can check that way? or like Ang said, but feeling your stomach?

Same way they did it for our moms, grandmas, etc. The dr will palpitate on your stomach and will be able to tell the baby's position.
For me, I have growth sonos every 4 weeks, but I can tell where the baby's head and legs are all the time. (Head in my right lung, feet on bladder!) I think especially as the baby gets bigger it should be easier for you to tell.

This! I went to my check up before my growth sono and my OB felt my belly and could tell exactly the position she was in and how she was laying. When I had the growth sono it confirmed she was head down like my OB had already told me

Re: breech babies
my ds was head down at 31 week sono. I went for my first internal she though that something was up and send me for a sono and they found the baby was feet down (footling breech).
