Breech at 37 weeks...
I'm so bummed about this! First off let me tell you my story: When I got PG I was convinced I'd end up with a c-section because all the women in my family go tat way. Then everyone starts telling me there's no correlation, and my chances of going naturally are as good as anyone else. So I started to feel confident that I could do this naturally! At 20 wks the baby was in position, all was well... At 31 weeks I felt this round bump just under my rib - I was like, butt or head??? Turns out it's the head! (Confirmed at my 32 wk sono) At 35.5 wks I was still breech, and I now know just how the baby is positioned in me - there is no mistaking this little head for anything else! Also, my OBGYN said that when/if the baby flips I will know it - that movement will "rock my world." I don't want to to the external version, so he sent me for acupuncture. Apparently, it takes the chances of the baby flipping from less than 10% to 50%. Now I'm 36 wks, 6 days and still breech. My acupuncturist said I'll need "at least 5 treatments." And basically, I'll be going to that every 2-3 days until baby flips or I have a sceduled c-section. I've also tried putting ice packs on babys "head." I'm pretty upset that my chances of going naturally are getting less and less by the day. I chose not to know the baby's gender and I don't what to "choose" the baby's birthday! (If it's a scheduled c-section). I feel like I'm being cheated out of an experience here I've already told my family that no one will know the scheduled date except me and DH - I still want everyone else to be surprised! They'll get a call right before we leave to go to the hospital, just like as if I were going into labor.
So, anyone with some encouraging words, words or advice and/or wisdom? Any BTDT mom's whose baby flipped last minute? Anything special I could do here?

Re: Breech at 37 weeks...
First... there is a chance that the baby can turn and you not know it.
My baby was an unstable lye... meaning she turned into all sorts of positions at the end. each day she was in a new position, breech, transverse, head down, etc. And I had NO CLUE she turned!!
Breech babies have something with their hips that they are just able to bend differently. One of the pediatrician's in my office was checking her movement and he bend her legs... then asked "was she breech" due to how her hip area moved. So your baby can still turn. I was 39 weeks and she was still turning in and out of position.
IF it comes to needing a C section because she's breech, it's OK. There's nothing you can do about it and just seeing your baby will make all the rest disappear. I too did not want a C section... and I even felt funny about choosing the birthdate... its special to me when they pick their dates. But I ended up with a C section in the end. I think you just eventually come to terms with it. It doesn't even really bother me at all anymore.... it just is what it is. I know it feels like you are being cheated out of the experience... but trust me... vaginal or c section... you will certainly have an experience!!!! I promise you that!!
I wasn't willing to do the procedure where they try to turn the baby and then clamp her down (i'd say the name but I can't remember it) and I didn't try the ice thing or any of that. I just kinda rolled with it.
Instead of worrying or being down about these issues.... just enjoy this time. It's the calm before the storm. Don't let this take away from the special time you are embarking on (by that I mean literally the time frame BEFORE you have the baby).
Good Luck.. I hope she turns for you!!!

Do you have a chiropractor? See if they know the webster technique. It relieves stress on your pelvis allowing your uterus and ligaments to relax which allows your little one to turn. It's very effective...and not painful.
If you have questions feel free to fm me, I'm a chiropractor. Good luck!

This is defninitely true. I was breech until 39 weeks and was brought to a Dr. when I was born because of my hips.
I have no advice but my baby is breech at 28 weeks and I have a funny feeling that she may stay that way. I have already decided that I won't try to manipulate her position if she is.
Good luck. I hope you get the delivery you are wishing for.

this is true. breech babies after they born get ultrasounds to make sure their hips are aligned and not dislocated. my baby was breech and around 8 weeks old we had the u/s down, and she was fine. although I know two people that had breech babies that did have issues due to being breech, although they were correctable issues.
regardless, at 37w theres some time to turn. and if the baby doesn't turn it's not the worst thing in the world. please have an open mind about the birth, they almost never go as we plan. the best thing you can do for you and your baby is not worry about it, however it is meant to happen, it will happen. once baby is here it wont matter as much how it came out

Re: Breech at 37 weeks...
A woman in my prenatal yoga class had a good experience with the webster technique. I have also read about hypnosis for breech babies, although I don't know anyone who has tried it. Another thing you can try is resting with your hips above your heart- either on some pillows or a bolster, or resting a board on the couch and kind of hanging out for a few minutes. I have also heard of people playing music near the pubic bone (again don't know of anyone who has tried this). GL!

My DS flipped around 37 weeks. It didn't rock my world. I did know though, because his head was on my right side, so I couldn't sleep on that side. But other than that, I would not have known. I hope LO flips for you.

Re: Breech at 37 weeks...
Well I am on breech baby #2. With my first I tried the ECV and everything else I could do on my own to turn the baby. He never turned and I had a c/s at 39 weeks. I was disappointed to not be able to go into labor and choose his birthday also. I was hoping to try a VBAC with this one but now that she is breech (in the exact same position as DS was) I just went ahead and scheduled the c/s for 39 weeks (I'm 36 weeks today). This time around I feel like they are breech for a reason and trying to force them to turn will just be harmful. I'm not disappointed about it this time around, it is what it is. On a side note, I was delivered breech so I always wonder if there is any correlation??
I'll keep my fingers crossed your baby turns, as everyone said there is still time, crazier things have happened!!
