Breathable Mesh Bumper Users Please Come In
I have the breathable mesh bumpers on my dd crib and I find that no matter how tight I try to tie them on they are just not super tight on the crib. They bunch up or start to fall down and then my dd sticks her hand through the slates and pushes them further down in an attempt to get the ties on the outside.
This concerns me because I feel like shes not getting adequate protection from them. But Im more afraid of the regular bumpers and suffocation because it would be the same thing. Ive tried every which way to put them on and it just doesn't line up.
I sewed one of the strings back on in a more aligned place with the slate and it seemed to make it better. I should just re-sew all of them then right?
Did any of you experience this? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Im just not crazy about these bumpers but I know they are the safest suffocation wise. But clearly are not really that great at protecting against bumps...

How about no bumpers. My DS is crazy in the crib and we have never had bumpers and its never been an issue.
He would pull them off or use them to climb if we had them.

DD plays with the strings also. It doesn't bother me since it seems to keep her busy when she wakes up in the morning.
As pp said, you don't necessarily need bumpers at all. You could take them out entirely or leave them tied as best you can and at least have some protection. Have you washed them recently? I figured I should do that soon since they may be a little stretched out which is making them sag a little.

Yeah, mine do the same thing. I don't think it's an issue though. They're still much better than regular bumpers. You could also just remove them and go without bumpers. Lots of people don't use any type of bumper.

yes, i have the same issues. its annoying and then they slide down too. once DS got his foot in between the slats because the bumpers were slid down. And no matter how tight i tie the strings they still come down, and still don't lay completely flat.

Mine do the same thing. I'm constantly re-tying them. They are always sliding down, and one of the ribbons broke off when DH was trying to tie it tighter! DD is constantly moving in her sleep, so I like having them. If we put in regular bumpers, she'd probably try to climb on them!

We had ones with Velcro and they seemed to stay pretty tight

Velcro on the sides but what about the front and back of the bumpers? There has to be something on them to make them stay in place? There's Velcro on that too?

Mine had velcro, and after I washed them a few times, and has DS got older, they stopped staying up, so we have been using no bumpers, at all...and Ds flips and flops, and he is fine. I would say just skip the bumpers.

I recently bought some and after a few days, decided to return them. They bunched up and I felt they didn't allow for good air circulation. My DD is totally fine without them, and she moves quite a bit in her sleep!

Mine have velcro. I tucked the bottom down below the mattress a few inches so it's only mesh above the mattress. They stayed in place until they got old enough to step on them then I had to take them down so they didn't use them to climb out of the crib. I liked using them, without them their little arms and legs would be hanging out of the cribs and that made me more nervous.

Yep. Mine do the same ever since DS became super wiggly. I gave up fixing them..I leave them the way they are.

Us too. Velcro. Used them forever. No issues. Totally recommend.
