Breastpump Rave from a BTDT mommy

Hi Girls!

I hope you're all having wonderful pregnancies

If you ARE planning on breastfeeding-my advice has always been to see if you can start out borrowing a friend/family member's pump (you can get ALL new parts-hose, suction cups, valves/membranes) or renting one from the hospital. Lots of girls don't end up sticking with BFing (it does get hard, and truly, it's not for everyone-plus you don't want to get stuck with a brand new $300-$400 pump that collects dust). I didn't start pumping until about 5-6 weeks pp-I made sure DS and I were well established before starting something new. I borrowed a friends pump (Medela Pump in Style) which unfortunately is now dying a slow death (it's 4 years old). I called a lactation nurse who said it was time for a new pump.

So I went for the splurge and got the Medela Freestyle and I'm SO GLAD I DID!! Yesterday I pumped for the first time, and I have to say-its an awesome pump. If you plan on breastfeeding for 6 months or more it's definitely a worthwhile investment.

I love the freestyle! Been pumping for two days now and I have to say it's a pretty pleasant experience! And to think I was dreading it like the plague...
